Stephen Hawking is the Albert Einstein of our age. This biography acts as introduction to his life and work. While written for a child I felt the book took an honest look at the man. It mentioned his 30 year marriage, and divorce and remarriage without sugar coating it. The writer addressed in detail how Hawkings ALS limits his movement and his ability to communicate with the outside world. States clearly that Hawkins ALS was at the root of his divorce. The book covered the major points of his theories and his attempts at unifying relativistic theory , how time and space are affected by matter and energy with large bodies, with quantum mechanics, how same the factors work in unexplainable ways when viewed at the atomic and subatomic sizes. The book is a serious biography and Hawking’s life was hard the book ends on an up beat note. The last part of the biography emphasizes the books Stephen Hawking’s wrote, his ride in the Vomit Comet to experience weightlessness and his television appearances in the Big bang Theory, and StarTrek the Next Generation. It dwells on the scientific bets he made and sometimes lost with his colleagues. The book is a good introduction to the life and continuing times of Stephen Hawking and can be a jumping off point for more research into his work and life for anyone of any age.… (més)
