In Mobilizing Men for One-on-One Ministry, Steve Sonderman draws from the wealth of his personal experience as one of America's first full-time men's ministry leaders. He calls the church to a model of discipleship that is timely, biblically-based, and achievable.
The strengths of this book can be found in its practicality. Sonderman gives helpful tips that would benefit any men's ministry. The chapter on "Effective Small Groups" alone is worth the price of the book! I also love how he consistently points the reader to helpful tools in the discipleship process. While I wouldn't personally use all of those tools (Sonderman and I would probably have some slightly different theological convictions), most of them are very solid.
The reader should be aware that this book is written on a level that would best appeal to lay leaders. You won't find an academic treatise defending men's ministry; that isn't Sonderman's purpose.
All in all, I think this is one of the most practical and helpful books I have read on men's ministry in a long time!… (més)
