Charisse Spiers

The title of this book is almost misleading – so much more than New Adult Romance or Erotica. I fell in love with Saxton and Kambry from the very start. Spiers gives Kambry a depth and level of understanding that just shout ‘old soul.’ Both are damaged in their own way, and by some twist of fate they find themselves in each other. BFF Meredith is one of a kind – quirky, loveable and a perfect counterpoint to Kambry. I loved the story line; it’s believable and it’s fascinating to watch the dynamics of all the players unfold. Kambry and Saxton are a perfect match and I eagerly await book 2.… (més)

Steamy dark romance at its best!

Talk about two people coming from twisted abusive childhoods! Both Kaston and Lux have, as adults, found a way to take control of their lives and in many ways even thrive! Their story is told from both perspectives in first person and though this is often difficult for an author to do well it really worked in this book. Both are damaged people but there is something that drew me to them. I would not choose to be either of them but then I doubt they would have chosen their lives if given a choice in the first place. The fact that they manage to find one another, are both strong willed and determined with goals for the future had me rooting for them and hoping that they would find a way to stay together for the long haul. Kaston is a BAD boy and Lux is not GOOD but both have goodness inside and are willing to share it with those they truly care about. I hope to find and read the next book in the series that will tell the story of Kross and Delta. I have a feeling that there may be stories for Chevy and Flynn at least and perhaps others as the series continues.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book but do have to say that it is not for the faint of heart. There is violence and graphic sex but it is in keeping with the story. This is not a book for children.
