This book is a page turner! There are missing/found/missing/found diamonds, the mafia, a small town police chief. a lady minister and a twelve year-old boy and his dog. All are melded together into a taunt mystery that keeps you guessing. I was a little worried with the mafia connections, often those turn into total blood baths but this one keeps a lot of the killing off-stage or minimally described, which I appreciate. I had part of this one figured out but not the whole thing and the twist most certainly was a surprise to me. Highly recommended and I hope this author continues writing.

Need to edit this, just checked and there are three more books in the series, so I'm going to be putting them high on my list of "to be read".

I really like the characters in this series but am getting a little tired of the "mob" being in the middle of everything that happens in this small town.

Wash and Wear refers to the practice of "washing" counterfeit money to make it look more worn and thus not raise as much suspicion. When a local bank teller gets involved and then gets himself killed, one of Ed McAvoy's officers kills the killer and thus becomes a target.

Lots of information on how counterfeit money is created, identified and "washed", a lot of information on just how far the reach of a mob can extend.

I'll read more in the series but hope that eventually there will be less mob and more mystery.

I still like this series but I hope, eventually, he will get away from involving the mafia. I mean, this is a very small town in upstate New York, how many crimes can there be that are tangled up in the mafia? This one at least had most of the mafia involvement coming from out of state, but still.

Ed and his friends are still wonderful and I missed Danny, he had a very small part in this one, overall it was a great read.

I enjoy this series. Ed McAvoy and his family and friends are good company.

In this book Ed is working on a current play as director (a fun job he takes outside of his job as Police Chief). When a local celebrity is found dead at the bottom of a cliff the first look is that she died in the car wreck but after some more facts come out as murder.

Veronica's best friend and business partner wants answers even more badly than Ed does, so she works with him to determine exactly who killed Veronica and why.

It has been a while since I read the last book in this series but with only a few pages I was happily back in the middle of the nice little town, warm pub and fancy hospital.

I need to get more in this series I do so enjoy it.
