The story is a standard murder mystery, written like a visual narrative. Elsie is informed her aunt was killed instead of the accidental death as believed initially. Along with talking dog, Lola, and talking cat, Cleo, Elsie investigates the case of her aunt's murder. On top of the investigation, Elsie has been tasked to manage the B&B on her aunt's behalf. The book is dialogue-heavy with only spurts of action, but readers get a good overview of the characters featured.

Set aside a long afternoon for this first book in the family-friendly contemporary paranormal tale about orphaned 17-year-old Caroline "Carly" Ravenspell who is summarily sent off to live with her grandmother Althea Ravenspell because Carly's Aunt Pattie claims Carlie is a "witch," which we all know is "polite speech" for the rhyming word starting with "b."

Ressenya escrita per a Crítics Matiners de LibraryThing .
Read the first book, wasn't entirely satisfied about it and now the second book.
Don't read this book if you haven't read the first one. It goed back to a lot of stuff in the first book, it is the second part of a book to be honest.
You know, I liked Paige and I liked Dewey, but was entirely worn out at the end of the book. They go into an adventure, have to go in a second one to solve the first one, but then have to go in a third one to solve the second one... You get the drift. Entirely to much going on, no red line in this book.
It was disappointing. No third part for me. Two stars because I read to the end.

Disclaimer: I got this book in the Librarything Early Reviewers.
