I like the idea of the wee people, the Hobs, living with the forest and protecting all the beings. The horrible Harklights business that used orphans to make matchsticks from logged forests was a bit overdone and didactic, with a stereotypical, one-sided "bad person." The illustrations lent positively to the story. Includes a map, "Papa Herne's Glossary of Forest Homes" and "Five Ways to Be a Forest Keeper from Tim Tilley."
