Ann Twinam is Professor of History at the University of Texas at Austin. She is the author of Public Lives, Private Secrets: Gender, Honor, Sexuality, and Illegitimacy in Colonial Spanish America, which received the Thomas F. McGann Prize and honorable mention for the Bolton-Johnson Prize.
