(show) Brentwood - Benefit for 10th Street Preschool: Sam Wasson discusses and signs "Fosse" Diesel, A Bookstore in Brentwood welcomes author Sam Wasson to the store to discuss and sign his biography, Fosse, on Thursday, February 13th at 6 pm. Actor, dancer, choreographer, and director, Bob Fosse was the only person ever to win an Oscar, Emmy, and Tony award in the same year (1973). Put simply, from the stage to the silver screen, he revolutionized American entertainment. Fosse's signature flourish – tilted hat, splayed fingers – was the mark of an iconic spirit that influenced generations of performing artists. In this new biography, pop culture historian, Sam Wasson gives us an intimate and comprehensive look at the man who produced one of the longest-running Broadway musicals ever, Chicago. Using unpublished material and interviews with hundreds of sources – friends and enemies, lovers and colleagues – he uncovers the deep wounds and insatiable appetites behind Fosse's innumerable successes, as well as the anxiety and turmoil behind his constant reinventions. Sam Wasson is the author of the New York Times bestseller Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and the Dawn of the Modern Woman, as well as two works of film criticism. A visiting professor of film at Wesleyan University, Wasson lives in New York and Los Angeles.

Fifth and Hepburn: Sam Wasson Sam Wasson debat Fifth Avenue, 5 AM: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.Non-Member: $13.00 / Member: $8.00. Audrey Hepburn is an icon like no other, yet the image many of us have of Hepburn—dainty, immaculate— is anything but true to life. here, for the first time, Sam Wasson presents the woman behind the little black dress who rocked the nation in 1961. With a colorful cast of characters including Truman Capote, Edith Head, Givenchy, “Moon River” composer Henry Mancini, and, of course, Hepburn herself, Wasson immerses us in the America of the early sixties before Woodstock and birth control, when a not-so-virginal girl by the name of Holly Golightly raised eyebrows across the country, changing fashion, film, and sex for good.
