Whitfield J. Bell (1914–2009)

A good overview of the early American historical societies and collecting institutions, as well as the first generation of state and national histories published in the United States. Readable and interesting.

A much-deserved biography of Dr. John Morgan, who did much to promote and professionalize the practice of medicine in America (and had a thankless time trying to manage the medical service during the early years of the Revolution).
