Ariadne Teddington’s day is definitely not going according to plan. To top it all off, she is standing in line at the small local bank, when there is a loud crash of the door. Turning around Ari comes face to face with the muzzle of a gun. Her day just got even worse. The bank is being held up by thieves. Ari knew things would not get any better if they found out she was a prison guard. While trying to keep a low profile, she still tried to help the other hostages by keeping the heat off of them, especially when there is a mother and child near her.

The local police were prepared for this bank heist as they had an inside man on the job and an informant on the inside. Things do not go as planned though when they realize Ariadne Teddington is also locked inside the bank too. Ari has a history and it would become a field day if word got out that she was a hostage especially with her recent history.

With bank robbers, who may not necessarily have everything under control or be as prepared and a roomful of hostages, can Ari diffuse the situation so they can all make it out alive?

LOCKED IN is a slow build police thriller that will suck you right in right from the first page. I found myself really fascinated by Ari as she seemed so real to me. Even though she was a prison guard and worked in an environment where she had to be tough, she still knew her limits. She uses her head instead to try to help everyone stay alive. She is portrayed as such an ordinary person that it made the story seem more real and believable.

I know this is the second book in the Locked In Trilogy, but it can be read as a standalone. There are some references to what happened in the first of the series and some characters that were also in the first book that make an appearance, but I never felt lost while reading. However, I now want to read the first book of the trilogy as I really enjoyed this one immensely.

G.B. Williams really knows how to write a scene. Her imagery is so vivid you feel like you are right there in the middle of it all taking part in how the story will go. I found it quite exhilarating. If you love a slow build up story, then you do not want to miss Locked in. I highly recommend it be added to your reading list.… (més)
