Easy read with appealing couple-really enjoyed this and was my first by Windsor. Looking forward to more.

I really wanted to read the third one in this series and when I started it and was a bit confused, I decided to stop and begin with the first one. Reading this one, perhaps I should have just started in order of publication because apparently Lucas and Rosalind the two hosts of the Christmas party are the main couple in Her Noble Captive. For the most part it was fine as a standalone, but there were a few references to backstory that were lost in translation. That said, I don't think you could read this specific series out of order, well you could I guess, but there were quite a few references - maybe not ones that impact the actual story but ones that make it that bit more enjoyable. Like Jack's codename.

Anyway, I loved the second book in the series. Asher was intriguing in the first one and it was fantastic to see him find love. I loved his statistics and facts. I really liked Lily and her path to finding herself after her first husband did everything possible to destroy her confidence and self worth. I liked her list and her bravery in building herself back up. The romance between them was sweet and cheesy. They don't get to know each other as well as I would like, but they still get to know the pertinent facts and actually have quite a few conversations so it's not total instalove.

Great read. 4 stars.

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. I'm never really a big fan of second chance romances but this wasn't too bad. I liked Bram and Sophie. Sophie was great, although I really can't wait for Aideen's story, she was hilarious. But I also liked Sophie's parents - they were understanding and affectionate and very supportive of the girl's happiness which was nice.

I loved the bromance between Bram, Jack and Alex. All their little plans to win Sophie over were amusing, although I liked it best when Sophie and Aideen managed to upend them. I didn't love the spy plot line - particularly when Sophie and Aideen end up in danger - kind of felt unnecessary, but it wasn't the worst thing I've read and it occupied a minor part - which was kind of why it felt unnecessary. If it had of taken up more of the book it would've made more sense. Or if the girls were involved in the spy business more.

The romance between Bram and Sophie was sweet and lighthearted. There was no real angst, just lots of misunderstandings. Bram was kind of a moron but it made for a great story.

I'll definitely be reading the rest of the series. I almost skipped this to start with Let Sleeping Dukes Lie, the third book in the series but I'm really glad I didn't. I got as far as hearing Aideen was kidnapped to decide I better read these in order. I think you probably could read them standalone but you'd miss a bit of lead up. 4 stars.

It's funny - I read the first two books in the series so I could read this one and unfortunately I enjoyed the first two a lot more than I did this one. I was really looking forwards to Aideen and Alex's story but it was just missing something. The spark between them that was so strong in the first book was just gone. Or at least, flickering. They still had the banter and Aideen was still competent - but the mischievousness Aideen had previously shown didn't really come out. And since it was supposed to be the Rules of the Rogue from a female view, I kind of expected Jack and Aideen to plot a hell of a lot more - get Sophie (from the first book) into it, pull in Meghan (the Duke's mum) and girl power it. I mean the first book had the whole bromance between Bram and Alex and Jack, the second had Jack and Asher and this one had like one instance of Jack and Aideen discussing jealousy.

It wasn't bad, just wasn't as good as I was anticipating. It was a bit light on romance and mystery/suspense but the banter was funny and it was an easy read. 3.5 stars.
