His books include Memoir: A History; When You Catch an Adjective, Kill It; and The Sound on the Page, “a stylish exploration of developing a distinctive voice and writing style” (Chicago Tribune). He contributes to blogs about language and writing for The Chronicle of Higher Education and the New York Times, and he writes a personal blog about British words and expressions that have been adopted in American English. His new book offers writing advice on subjects ranging from diction and grammar to cadence and tone. Mr. Yagoda will choose three example essays to critique from the stage.
