Franz Zadrazil de Agnes Essl
Franz Zadrazil was an Austrian postman who discovered painting. Similar to Vermeer and Edward Hopper, he had an eye for the hidden charms of urban wasteland, of locations surviving from the past that tell stories about their absent owners. This catalogue is a wonderful companion to a great exhibition in the Essl Museum in Klosterneuburg, Austria. Hopefully, Vienna will some day open a permanent Zadrazil collection in one of its museums. Zadrazil is a far worthier representative of Austrian art than much of what is on display in the MUMOK today. Alas!… (més)
