Gothic horror novels have been around since the writing of the 1763 novel The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole, but with the addition of romance, stories such as Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and many more have turned us on to "the scared girl" books. These truly took on a life of their own though during the 50's, 60's and 70's and created almost a cult of followers. A tale of dark romance....set in a grim mountain top mansion with terror around every corner. Who was trying to arrange another "fatal accident?" She was the bride of a madman, mistress of a mausoleum and heiress of death....

We all know the covers, and can spot them a mile away in a used bookstore. As we eagerly run to grab it off the shelf, we frantically search to see if there are any more that someone hastily discarded. Whether you like the newer vampire/werewolf genre of Gothic, or love the old Romantic Suspense or Gothic Romance, join me in sharing the love, share your newest finds, post pictures of your covers and most of all enjoy a bit of time in the Houses of Suspense.
