Secrets are revealed. Lies are exposed. And in order to have a future, William and Eva will have to delve into the past.
William Templeton, widower and police chief of Eden, North Carolina is working the scene of a local woman's drowning when the body is found with an old gold coin in her pocket - identical to a coin that was discovered on Catherine's body, his estranged wife, over a year ago. Catherine's case, originally deemed a tragic accident, has been reopened, forcing William to step down as police chief.
Historian and Blackbeard expert, Eva Knightly, is brought into the investigation to help identify the coins and can't understand why her good friend Catherine never mentioned anything about it. When more coins surface at a local church, Eva and William know it's more than mere coincidence. With the entire town whispering about Blackbeard, cursed coins, and lost treasure, it becomes hard to separate what is true and what is a myth.
The Seafarer's Secret is a thrilling cinematic mystery featuring the exigent slow-burning romance between William and Eva as they work together to reveal the secrets and lies of Eden, North Carolina. Though, in order to have a future, they'll have to look deep into the past to keep from being a modern-day killer's next victim.

Ruth was delighted to enter nursing school at Kingston General Hospital. Nursing had to be a better life than staying in her tiny town, marrying a local boy, and raising a large family for her father's church like her mother had. At first, she fails, and is sent to the local Tuberculosis Sanatorium to build up her skills.
It's 1946, and the San is overflowing with wounded and returning soldiers, women, and children. Ruth must find her way among the dying, depressed, and sometimes too-friendly patients, as well as demanding doctors and a jealous mentor--without getting sent home, infected, or forced into marriage. And she still hopes to make her way back into nursing school.
Author D.A. Brown draws on her own experiences as a nursing student at Queens University (decades later) and extensive research to vividly illustrate the challenges of mid-century health care.

“Covid-19 stole so much. But one of the things it couldn’t steal was the power of stories."
From the author of the international bestseller The Headmaster's Wife and other novels comes a collection of essays written during the Covid-19 pandemic while the author sheltered in place in his tiny Vermont town. While in isolation, he observed a small town at its best: neighbors helping neighbors, the joys of gardening, the pleasure of a small boy riding his bike, and walks in the park with his dog Hugo. Childhood memories and stories of family life are intertwined, and what the reader gains is a sense of community, family, and belonging. These stories may be tiny, but they show how grand the human capacity for love, and how that love is greater than the ills that befall us.
In Notes from the Porch we see Greene's capacity for true storytelling at its finest, and it is a great gift to us all.

Enhance your dreaming with groundbreaking research and wisdom from vivid dreamers throughout history, sacred texts, and the present day.
We're asleep almost a third of our lives. What if those sleeping hours hold wisdom, creativity, and even connection with the divine? What if our dreams offer spiritual insight and guidance--not just for ourselves, but for our communities?
In The Spirituality of Dreaming, leading dream scholar and expert Dr. Kelly Bulkeley brings us a set of time-honored methods to stimulate innate dreaming capacities and amplify their impact in our waking lives. Dreams have been a perennial source of spiritual insight and guidance across all cultures and religions throughout history, he asserts, but the sacred energy of our dreams has often remained untapped. Relying on years of research, data analysis, and interviews, Bulkeley offers wisdom and strategies from "big dreamers"--people who have vivid, intense dreams and remember them. He also distills the latest findings on dreams: the impact of digital technologies on our dreams, the phenomena of lucid dreaming and dreaming incubation, practices of dream-sharing, the creative role of dreams in cultural innovation, and the growing evidence that animals dream too.
In conversation with people who care about dreams and spirituality, Bulkeley makes a case for taking ourselves seriously as dreaming visionaries. By drawing on classic and contemporary works of theology, anthropology, and psychology, along with the latest dream research, Bulkeley maps the spiritual power of dreaming and argues that our dreams matter in ways we do not yet fully realize, both individually and collectively. Together we can learn how to unlock the sacred truths revealed within our sleeping selves.

Mother Teresa's collected writings offer inspiration and guidance for all spiritual seekers.
St. Teresa of Calcutta, the woman we all knew as Mother Teresa, was a devout Catholic nun, deeply devoted to Jesus. She expressed her ceaseless devotion in many ways, central among them her well-known work with the poor and the sick. Her lesser-known expressions of faith included her deep respect for all religions and her burning wish for all people to grow closer to God. With a longing to reach as many souls as possible, she wrote, "I've always said we should help a Hindu become a better Hindu, a Muslim become a better Muslim, a Catholic become a better Catholic."
This carefully arranged collection of Mother Teresa's writings promises to both inspire and guide all people, from any or no faith tradition, who are seeking to find and walk a spiritual path.
"Mother Teresa was one of the great spiritual servants of our era, whose simple wisdom expressed untold depths of devotion. In this treasury of her thoughts on prayer, she offers the world another blessing."—President Jimmy Carter, author of Living Faith

Laurie Boyle Crompton's coming of age in rural Pennsylvania and the New York City area in the 1970s and 1980s was anything but idyllic. In moving verse accompanied by diary-esque sketches, Crompton takes you along as she navigates relationships, plays the happy family at church despite discord at home, manages her mother's ambitions and her father's alcoholism, struggles with her self-image, and desperately tries to fit in at school by squeezing into too-tight designer denim.
Both heartwarming and heartbreaking, The Denim Diaries follows Crompton's journey through disordered eating and sexual assault to acceptance and recovery. Her vivid poems recall the highs and lows of a life filled with hardship and joy alike. At times both harrowing and humorous, this memoir brings new perspective to the importance of self-love and finding hope in the darkest of times.- Suport

Tender Headed, selected by Camille Rankine as a winner of the 2022 National Poetry Series, is a musical and formally playful meditation on Black identity and masculinity
"In Tender Headed, Olatunde Osinaike asks the question, what makes a man, and what makes a man like me? As he interrogates the inner and outer workings of masculinity in all its sharp and tender parts, and the way a Black man meets the world, his poems strut and duck and weave across their pages. These poems unpack the ingredients of being and make a meal of language. They relish every word, every sound, every syllable. Their music is the sugar that makes us take our medicine, but their beauty refuses to be disguised. They disturb the peace while asking, 'whose peace?' The poems are playful, not playing. They pulse and spin and push us forward, never carry us away. Even as we dance along, we never close our eyes. This work is nimble. A two-step on a tightwire. Tender Headed grooves and shines, holds us wide awake and mesmerized." —Camille Rankine, author of Incorrect Merciful Impulses
THE IRONY OF TRANSFORMATION often is that we mistake it to have occurred long before it does. Tender Headed takes its time in asserting the realization that growth remains ever ahead of you. Examining the themes of Black identity, accountability, and narration, we encounter a series of revealing snapshots into the role language plays in chiseling possibility and its rigid command of depiction. Olatunde Osinaike's startling debut sorts through the many-minded masks behind Black masculinity. At its center lies an inquiry about the puzzling nature of relationship, how ceaseless wonder can be in its challenge of a truth. In the name of music and self-identity, the speaker weaves their way through fault and how it amends Black life in America.
This is demonstrated best in how the demanding, yet vulnerable tone for the collection is set in "Men Like Me," its restless opening poem. Here, we find the speaker reciting a chronicle of generational neglect from men that became him also. Earnest and sharp, there is a beauty in seeing a poet not shy away from both the melancholy and resolve of rescripting their path while cherishing their steps and missteps along the way. This collection is a panel aching of fathers, sons, uncles, grandfathers, all of whom would do well to join in and confront shared privileges that are typically curtailed or altogether avoided in conversation. Tender Headed entrusts the heart to be a compass, insisting on a journey unto itself and a melodic detour toward tenderness precise with its own footing.

Through 69 oil and watercolor paintings, JP Lane tells the story of 53 Grand Homes, including the triumphs, tragedies, and humor of the families who built them. The book features homes from 31 towns, from Redding to Bakersfield. This funny, heartwarming coffee table book also features 20 architectural styles and numerous painting tips.
Praise for Grand Homes:
“JP Lane has brilliantly captured the artistic essence of our 1959 mid-century-modern home designed by architect Carter Sparks. His expressionist painting during sunset strongly reflects Carter’s post-war period and newly found optimism and flare for innovation. Lane also graphically represents the societal attitudes of sitting by the reflecting pool at night enjoying the warm weather of the Great Central Valley. His colors emulate a sense of the mid-century design attitudes and symbolizes this great time of the valley’s movement of non-conformity and personal experience in art. As was with this mid-century period of art, Lane’s paintings are also transcending and revolutionary.” —Milford Wayne and Laurie Donaldson, California State Historic Preservation Department
“Grand Homes, lovely paintings, unique histories, and painting tips. What a pleasure to have the Oroville Chinese Temple Complex included. With this book as your guide, you will discover new sites, towns to explore, histories to expand on and, perhaps, paint a Grand Home of your own.” —Machelle Conn, Lead Docent, City of Oroville
“A beautifully created book, capturing the spirit and love of the diverse people who have made the Central Valley their home. A treasure which will live on forever. Thank you!” —Jean Okuye, California Farmland Trust
Sample profile: The Zalud House in Porterville
This house was commissioned by John Zalud and his wife Mary Jane, both of whom were born in Bohemia (in present day Czech Republic). After marrying in Chicago, they moved to Tulare and opened a restaurant and bar, catering to the local railroad workers. After the railroad relocated, they moved their family to Porterville, opening a saloon, and a rumored gambling room.
"The Zalud House is one of few houses of that era that has not undergone any remodeling and one of few museums in the nation that is furnished entirely with the original owners' possessions." Aside from the amazing architecture, what draws many visitors to this museum is the tragedies suffered by this family, which seem to know no ends. One daughter died of tuberculosis and the son died after a tragic horse-riding accident. Those types of deaths, although heartbreaking, were not that uncommon during that time. However, what happened to Zalud's daughter, Anna, and son-in-law, William Brooks, captured headlines in 1917.
Brooks was employed by the National Cash Register Company and traveled with his new associate and his wife, the Howes, to St. Louis, Australia and New Zealand. His wife, Anna Zalud, stayed behind in Porterville while her husband was on business. Though accounts vary, Julia Howe heard that Brooks was bragging publicly upon his return that they had had an affair while on the trip, damaging her social standing and creating a scandal in her house. "Her beauty and grace obtained entry for her into the most exclusive homes in the east bay district of Oakland." Brooks apparently ruined all of that by tarnishing her reputation.
While her husband was on business in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she traveled to Porterville, found Brooks drinking with friends in the lobby of the Pioneer Hotel, shot him four times in the chest, sat down, ordered a drink, and waited for the police.
I just want to know what drink she ordered, which we can assume was free of charge and delivered with trembling hands.
Her only public comment after killing Brooks; "A good job done."

Have you ever stared at the ceiling, tired eyes held open by a mind overflowing with thoughts, questions and feelings?
This is the background framing the whole conception of the poetic musings depicted in this book: a global pandemic, a life in a new country, and a moment of both professional and personal disruption. For any chronic overthinker the scenario of imposed, unannounced change, and the sudden awareness of Time is the "perfect” igniting spark to action. And that is how every bad mood, every unsolicited advice, every article, every news, every fear, every disappointment became a vessel for the words start to flow.
The series of poetic musings depicted in Little Things, Complex Matters is an attempt to understand the Whys? behind all the sudden disruption, by answering (or trying to answer) the many burning questions about people, science, nature, love, past, future and how all those things put together form the Big Picture of Life. In the pages inside, the "rant" moments are organized in form of poetry to describe a big picture that is bigger and colorful than ever. And strangely, so is the perception of the details. In this wordly journey to self-awareness every dot connected is a new question to ask, a new theory to analyze, and an opportunity to immerse ourselves in a new gray zone in between that is anything but gray. If you are a overthinker, a curious mind or if you just have the tendency of staring at the ceiling at night with the mind boiling with the most provocative questions, I invite you to do a deep dive in this book.
The path to discover the answers that most comfort one's mind is not easy, make no mistake. But to all future readers, donating their precious time to appreciate the nonnative rants inside, I hope these musings can help you answer some of your own burning questions. One thing is for sure, though. I honestly feel (and hope) that you will leave these pages with tons of additional questions of your own so you can rant away out there as most please your souls.

Learn the entire fascinating story of the American Hot Rod Association (AHRA) in this wonderfully illustrated color history.
When the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) was formed in 1951 by Wally Parks, the reasoning for the formation was to "create order from chaos" by instituting safety rules and performance standards that helped legitimize the sport of drag racing. Some organization was certainly necessary. A postwar boom in automotive enthusiasm was reaching new heights, and Hot Rod magazine and the NHRA were right in the thick of it.
The NHRA hosted its first drag racing event in 1953, and in 1955, the organization staged its first national event, which was simply called "The Nationals." The AHRA formed in 1956 as an alternative to the NHRA, where the drivers voted on the rules (rather than sanctioning bodies and tracks), and their influence on the sport was felt almost immediately.
When the NHRA denied the use of nitromethane in 1957, the AHRA approved it. When the NHRA banned aircraft-powered dragsters in 1961, the AHRA welcomed them. When the NHRA said no to the emerging Funny Car in 1965, the AHRA said yes. When fans and racers screamed for a heads-up Super Stock category in 1968, the AHRA delivered. The AHRA was called a rebel association. Some say that it was more of an association that got things done--to the delight of fans and racers. The AHRA was on equal ground with the NHRA by the 1970s, drawing enormous crowds and racer entries.
In this fascinating history, veteran author Doug Boyce tells the story of the AHRA: the rise, the competition, the events, and the eventual downfall of the organization. After AHRA President Jim Tice passed away in 1982, internal fighting for control of the association resulted in its doom. Get the whole story here, and add this wonderful volume to your drag racing library.

A wonderful, bilingual collection from the latest winner of the Paz Prize for Poetry, granted by the National Poetry Series, that explores the interconnection between pain, love, and hope.
Oneyda González's astounding winning entry of the Paz Prize for Poetry is a searching and yearning triumph of hope over pain—through love. It is no small coincidence that González and Paz are linked in this publication, since the spiritual experience the latter lived and observed in India have accompanied González for many years, through her own curious search of the invisible that culminated in The Infinite Loop / El Lazo Infinito.
In this bilingual collection, pain and love combine in a self-annihilating matter-against-energy reaction that eventually amounts to a dynamic and deliberate formula for understanding hope. The Infinite Loop exists in the most fiery flames of friction where the personal will to survive—to hope to survive—is forged.
González's book was selected by judge Lourdes Vázquez, who says of his selection: "There was strong competition, but El lazo infinito stands out for its unique inner depth. In a kind of introspective scenario—a movie theater—a poem begins the rite and as a voice, an 'I' (that personal identity) in continuous dialogue with her inner voice. That never-ending reflection creates a universe of revelations, desires, and knowledge, and its course diverge, intermingle, and grow like the stems of a plant."
The Paz Prize for Poetry is presented by the National Poetry Series and Miami Book Fair at Miami Dade College and is awarded biennially. Named in the spirit of the late Nobel Prize–winning poet Octavio Paz, it honors a previously unpublished book of poetry written originally in Spanish by an American resident.
Translated from Spanish by Eduardo Aparicio.

"Easton and Wu’s novel is a great example of the subgenre I call “sci-spy,” the fusion of present-day science fiction and modern spy adventure, but it’s more than that. It’s also about an exotic form of espionage that (if certain sources are to be believed) is more actual than you might expect. This is fiction, yes, but it’s rooted in some very strange and (possibly) very real things." — Allen Steele

World governments, financial markets, and organized religions cease to exist. Groups in Ireland, Israel, and Italy have formed. But all they have is hope and each other. And “Betrayal” is in their midst. Who might be the next Judas?
6 January 2075
It’s almost midnight. London. Misty snow has been falling throughout the day in the English capital. The day’s final flights have landed at Heathrow and Gatwick airports. All air traffic in and around London has ceased. The streets appear deserted. The doors of Harrods, St. Paul’s, and Westminster Abbey are locked. A few homeless wander Piccadilly Circus and King’s Cross Station, searching for scraps of food or coins dropped by the drunks leaving the pubs. The bartender and staff at The Dickens Inn loiter over a few pints of Guinness near the Tower Bridge. The bartender tells all to get home safely. The Inn officially closed an hour ago.
Two thousand kilometers away from River Thames, a woman stands on a rooftop looking out over frigid waters where the Norwegian and North Seas merge. Droplets of freezing rain assault her beautiful but unsmiling and stoic face. She has put in motion an evil that can never be walked back. Military drones, cloaked so as not to be detected by radar, carry the deadliest inhalation virus known to humankind. Nothing can stop her.
The cold air biting her skin is causing significant pain. At this moment, she hears a man’s screams from the room below. It is time to head back inside. This captive may lead her to him. Another scream penetrates this darkest of nights. As she closes the rooftop door and enters her fortress… the clock tower strikes 23:59 hours Greenwich Mean Time.
“IT IS TIME.”

Opposites attract and sparks fly as a passionate dancer and a ladies' man who's given up on love fall for each other—one tango at a time—in this charming debut romance perfect for fans of Talia Hibbert and Blair Fell.
Nick Freeman works hard as the star of the weekly karaoke night at his bar, hoping his singing talent, quick wit, and winning smile will distract from his cerebral palsy. But one night at the bar, watching a professional dancer light up the dance floor with her boyfriend, he realizes that entertaining strangers will never give him a fraction of the joy he sees in this woman's eyes.
When Hayley Burke notices Nick's reaction to her dancing, she urges him to acknowledge his passion and try a few moves himself—only to be mortified when she realizes Nick can only walk with the aid of a metal walker.
As Nick and Hayley fumble through misunderstanding into friendship, Hayley begins to enjoy Nick's company more than that of her self-centered boyfriend. Nick tries to fight his attraction to Hayley, believing she deserves a dance partner who can move like her boyfriend does—but as Hayley and Nick continue to find their rhythm together, she shows him that "dancing" is about so much more than moving your feet.
In this fresh-voiced and utterly charming debut novel, Jason B. Dutton takes readers on a swoon-filled journey as two lost souls learn that neither physical disability nor emotional scars disqualify us from finding beauty, validation, and love amidst the chaos of being human.

Flourishing Love is a secular defence of marriage and long-term intimate partnership. It rejects a moral-religious code to govern love lives and instead puts its faith in the human potential for couples to be benevolent, loyal, and forgiving to preserve and enhance their romantic union.
Dr Gnaulati draws on a variety of sources to present the joint emotional upkeep necessary to make an intimate relationship not just satisfactory, but vital, and to illustrate what these lasting bonds look like. The latest science, anecdotes from his own 30-year marriage as well as from his psychotherapy practice, the musings of ancient and contemporary philosophers, and real-life interviews from partners in long-term happy marriages and intimate unions are all used to reveal the secrets to a successful romantic partnership.
The result is a how-to of engaging in attentive and sensitive communication; employing a fairness habit of mind around household chores, childrearing responsibilities, and finances; optimally moving through and beyond conflict; keeping an erotic spark alive; and ethically handling urges to stray outside the couple. A must-read for all those who crave meaning, happiness, and fulfilment in life and need their romantic partnerships to help, not hinder, in this endeavour.

In this captivating spiritual memoir, embark on a transformative journey with Amber Lewis as she skillfully navigates questioning the teachings of the fundamental Christian church she grew up in, only to emerge from its shadows as a nonbeliever. The narrative takes a riveting turn during a profound 'dark night of the soul,' where she grapples with doubt, existential questions, and the haunting echoes of religious dogma. Amidst the darkness, a luminous revelation unfolds—a radiant inner light that guides Amber towards a profound awakening. This memoir is a compelling odyssey of faith shattered and rebuilt, ultimately leading to the discovery of a spirituality that transcends traditional confines and religious dogma.
This is a great book for those who want to learn more about religious deconstruction, finding your true authentic self, releasing the fear of death, gaining sovereignty over your life and becoming a conscious creator of your reality. It follows my personal story of deconstructing the religion I grew up in, my personal struggle with severe depression, my journey through atheism and how that ultimately led to my spiritual transformation.
There are reflections at the end of each chapter to help guide you through the inner work process necessary for awakening to your true essence. My hope is that my story will be a beacon of promise to all of those who have been harmed by the indoctrination of organized religion and to help guide those who may feel lost or hopeless to the light we all have within.

On the occasion of his 65th birthday, Garry Cosnett took stock of his full and eventful life and was "stunned" to realize how much of it had been flavored by his largely hidden and recurring battle against clinical depression.
Cycling through numerous colleges and universities, and seeking a relief from pain through a remarkable series of psychiatrists, hospitals, relationships, jobs and drugs, he realized that sharing his candid story might bring hope to other sufferers. Because, at the end of it all, he has found a kind of peace - one preserved by attentive physicians and never-ending vigilance on the part of him and his wife, to whom he dedicates the book.
"Most important," he writes, "this is a book about hope. Hope that even in the most pernicious cases, depression can be managed, like so many other chronic diseases. I am a living example of that possibility."

Inspired by the true life of Louis-Benoit Zamor. Book one of a three-book series
In France’s Ancient Regime, kings marry for power but take mistresses for love. So revered was the coveted role of mistress to the king, the woman chosen was referred to as the king’s Favorite. In 1771, King Louis XVth gifted his Favorite, the Madame Jeanne du Barry, with a black child to serve as her personal servant and page. Years later, that child, Louis-Benoit Zamor, would send the last official French Favorite to her death.
~~
His mother told him he was God’s greatest thing. Then he was stolen, sold, shipped to France, and re-named Louis-Benoit Zamor. Stripped of his esteem as efficiently as a fox’s coat in a royal hunt, Zamor is reared by Du Barry—with a love as false as her smile—and a king with unsavory proclivities. He soon realizes his mother lied. Because, in this place, King Louis XV is the world’s greatest thing, second only to God.
But Zamor was loved, once. This fact, alone, makes the bitter pill of a lifetime of small nothingness impossible to swallow. Even if false, a mother’s words don’t die easily.
First, he must survive childhood. Then, if the world thinks the debauched, degenerate king is its greatest thing, the answer is simple: Zamor will have to change the world.
Vive le roi. Long live the King … and all that.

Then he takes a salvage run to an abandoned moon where he meets the wry, reserved, strictly-by-the-rules archivist Jin. Mesmerized by their confidence and charm, Sacheri can’t resist showing off his abilities–and instead of the damaged ai he was tracking, he stumbles onto a signal left by a synchronist who went missing decades earlier.
Sacheri knows from previous experience that pursuing the truth—never mind justice—could destroy everything he loves. He would defy his employers, the institution responsible for the myconeural networks that make him a synchronist, and the leadership of several worlds.
And it would complicate his new, passionate, and impossibly sweet relationship with Jin. They might be the best thing that’s ever happened to him, but they work for the very entities that ended Sacheri’s last investigation.
He knows better than to risk it.
But he’s never been able to turn away from someone in need, and there’s a voice in the void calling for aid…
Spark and Tether is an adult sci fi love story with gothic themes in a queer normative universe and the first book in the Synchronists series.

Imagine you are living in a rockpool that is uncovered by the sea twice a day. Here you will meet lots of different animals that the sea brings in, sometimes dangers and don’t forget to watch out for the greedy seagulls!
This book meets a beautiful animal that is hit on the head by a stone and has forgotten who they are and a cheeky hermit crab who loves to find new shells to live in.
At the end of each book, there is a page for adults to share with the readers that produce interesting facts about the animals or provide more depth on the issue depicted on the story.
I am a marine biologist working for over 40 years in this field and have a deep love and understanding for the animals and plants of our oceans. I spent much of my childhood ‘rock-pooling’ and this led me onto a lifelong career protecting and learning about the sea and its inhabitants. Maybe one child reading these books will feel inspired to learn more and explore the sea for themselves thus setting them on to a fantastic journey of discovery.

It’s early 1939, and Britain enters deeper into a period of momentous political upheaval with the growing threat of a second World War. Daily life continued, as it did for a nineteen-year-old Perthshire lad, son of the local schoolmaster.
Recently graduated from Dundee’s Wireless College, he signed-on at the offices of Christian Salvesen, Leith, to become a participant on their 1939/40 Whaling Expedition to the Antarctic. Hardships abound, but captivating sights and experiences together with a fascination for far-off places, provide the backdrop to this young man’s baptism of fire and ice. Schoolboy heroes are brought closer to home when seeing first-hand Shackleton’s memorial on South Georgia and dodging the crippling effects of icebergs and pack-ice. Dangers were a constant, whether from simply negotiating the decks to scraping ice from the aerials atop the radio room shack on his ‘Catcher’.
The world moved on, and despite being far from the growing European theatre of conflict, his return voyage brought sharp focus on a new threat. The North Atlantic Convoys became the new hunting-ground for Hitler’s U-boat Wolf Packs and Luftwaffe. No less than four of the seven vessels he served on were to be lost to enemy action. ‘Hunter to Hunted’ is an honest and compelling first-hand account of the war at sea, seen through the eyes of a young Scot, as he undertakes his own rite of passage.
From the Antarctic to the North Atlantic, Caribbean, Mediterranean and finally northern Europe, he hoped against the odds to survive these turbulent years, from Hunter to Hunted!

He is the youngest member of a typical loving family of four. The era is the nineteen sixties and despite having a very close bond with his mother, David has quite a job coming to terms with everything else.
This includes School, God, Santa Claus and pretty much all other categories in-between.
"Now which year was I at in school? Oh, that’s right, next up was Mrs. Marsh, year three. Tall, slim, redhead. No hair, just a red head. Imposing, smelt nice. She was quite fierce really, but fair. In Crude Deception, our heroes known as 'The Sentinels' are in an epic battle against a big oil monopoly. As America's dependence on fossil fuel takes hold in the post-World War Two climate of economic growth, seven major oil companies join forces to control the industry, amassing obscene profits, squeezing tax-payers, and manipulating supplies around the world. In a plotline eerily reminiscent of today’s political climate, the Sentinels fan out across several continents in an intricately plotted mission to bring Big Oil to its knees.
This is a continuation of the story of the Sentinels, a group of elite, conservative, intellectuals crusading to do good, by preventing nefarious scoundrels from exploiting the general public. Even so, it is an interesting read from the standpoint of what, if something like this had happened in the past, would the outcome have been.
In the first novel of the trilogy, Fortunes of War, the Sentinels thwart the plans of German Industrialists to establish a fourth Reich following the collapse of Hitler’s attempt to create the third. In the second, Crude Deception, they are opposing the major international oil companies, and their respective countries in their attempt to monopolize the exploration, development and production of the world’s available crude oil. ...naturally and thought-provoking only if you are willing to consider the implications of the story. Both books may be considered a cautionary against acceptance of the apparent status quo, advocating that active steps be taken to assure that not only the vested interests make decisions, but those impacted by the outcome have a major input as well.

Memories remain foggy about events preceding the disaster. Gravity suddenly reversed, in a swath encircling the globe. Two-thirds of the world’s population fell victim to the cataclysm that followed, as flora, fauna, and loose debris were catapulted into the heavens.
Five hundred years later, the survivors of the inversion event have reclaimed much of what was lost, but the world is a very different place. Some live in the floating cities of the swath. Others remain earthbound on either side of the swath. The divergent factions blame each other, walking a fine line between cooperation and outright declarations of war. Through it all, questions remain about the origin of the swath and its mysterious purpose.
As a child, Valtteri Knox stumbled across the threshold between normal and reverse gravity. He was flung into the sky, and had the misfortune of being saved by the Aerish. Valtteri is an outsider, of no caste and no worth, but it was decided he should be raised by the navy and groomed as a tool to infiltrate the earthbound.
On his first mission as an adult, Valtteri is completely unprepared for what he encounters. He understood what it meant to be a pariah, but no one told him he was also Iridogen, one of those rare individuals with a genetic trait mentioned in fragments of pre-inversion history.
He’s determined to find answers, and expose a plot that could start a global war, but first he’ll need to find a way to survive in a world that doesn’t trust him.

A Legacy Written in Blood and Pearls…
In 1498, the world was on the brink of a seismic shift. Christopher Columbus, during his fateful third voyage, stumbled upon the Pearl Coast—an enchanting realm teeming with riches beyond imagination. Yet, behind the glistening pearls lay a dark and treacherous history that would forever change the course of human lives.
At the heart of this gripping historical thriller lies Cubagua Island, a place where dreams and nightmares intertwined. Here, the lives of two souls, Charaima, a Native American, and Dembe, an African, were forever altered. Enslaved by the avaricious European invaders and subjected to unimaginable cruelty under the sadistic Captain Pedro, they clung to each other, united by a shared determination to secure their people's freedom.
Hidden amidst the chaos and suffering, a cache of pearls was concealed in a buried clay jar—a symbol of hope and a means to their liberation.
Cubagua Island, once renowned as The Pearl Coast, bore witness to the ruthless harvest of an estimated two-hundred billion oysters, yielding twelve tons of pearls sent to Spain—a treasure that exceeded all other exports combined. But this insatiable greed came at an unthinkable cost. Within two decades, the entire Native population had been decimated, and the first African enslaved people in America toiled as pearl divers on the island's shores.
Blood for Pearls unravels this dark and little-known chapter of history through the tireless efforts of Peter Von Perle, an American researcher and writer. Born in Venezuela, he became captivated by the hidden stories of early American natural saltwater pearl fisheries. For over a decade, he traversed the globe, unearthing secrets of the sixteenth-century pearl trade, and engaging with a multitude of experts, from gemologists and museum curators to archaeologists and historians. Now, he unveils his findings in this pulse-pounding historical thriller.
Prepare to be transported to a world where pearls are more than mere jewels—they are symbols of survival, resilience, and the enduring human spirit. Blood for Pearls is a spellbinding journey through history's most precious bloodshed, where beauty and brutality converge in the name of wealth, and where the true savages were not those who perished, but those who invaded.
Join in the unearthing of this untold history of the Pearl Coast. Get your copy of Blood for Pearls: The First American Genocide today and dive into a mesmerizing saga of adventure, deceit, and the relentless pursuit of freedom and wealth.

The homefront, summer 1942, Brooklyn, New York.
Six months after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, America was fighting overseas with the Allies in World War II. Maeve O’Shaughnessy’s fight for survival was different. Her three brothers were shipped out and left her with their new detective agency and fifteen-year-old brother to manage. Before the War, Maeve worked as a secretary. She knew nothing about detective agencies. From the start she struggled to make enough money to feed Jimmy and herself. Vic Marino, a no-nonsense ex-cop, showed up and told her he was going to help her make a go of the agency. Maeve vehemently protested but Vic insisted she had no choice.
Against the backdrop of a war many Americans never wanted, more men were drafted and volunteered to serve every day. Those left behind supported the war effort the best they could. As 1942 wore on sacrifices were necessary for the War, while the losses became real and heartbreaking. Thousands of women took up the cause working outside the home. Yet Maeve found herself trapped in circumstances beyond her control.
Vic’s “deal” to help the detective agency survive came at a cost. He took on responsibility for the detective agency along with an angry naïve woman and her teenage brother. The business was sinking and needed to make money fast. They needed a client. One walked in on Vic’s first day in the office. Mrs. Sullivan implored them for help. Her daughter Lucille, a “beautiful angel,” was brutally murdered in an expensive apartment owned by a rich businessman. The police showed no interest in her violent death. Maeve and Vic had no choice. They took the case nobody wanted.
From the mean streets of Brooklyn to Chinatown to the Brooklyn Navy Yard to the Fulton Fish Market to upstate New York, dealing with thugs, colorful characters, and puzzling clues, O’Shaughnessy Investigations, Inc. pursued the baffling case. A neo-noir mystery. Book 1 0f 3.

Stories about messy emotions, troubled families and damaged personalities. 11th Story Collection.
Over his lifetime Jack Matthews (1925-2013) wrote over 200 stories, many of which were published in literary journals. Although stories varied widely in subject and style, they often could be described as urbane, philosophical, poetic and sardonic.
Stories in Boxes of Time were mostly published between 1965 and 1980; they feature characters who are troubled or unsure of themselves trying to deal with life’s usual disappointments. Stylistically, these stories are polished and carefully written, but they deal with messy emotions, troubled families and damaged personalities. The characters may not be as educated or self-assured as the people in his other collections, but they still manage to figure out interesting things about themselves and the people around them. Stories from this period focus especially on the emotional stresses that separate parents from their children.
This ebook contains 25 stories by Jack Matthews which have never been collected, making it the author’s largest story collection.

The heart-warming account of a father and son’s journey of self discovery on foot around their own home county.
David Clensy sets off on a long walk – seeking to tackle the 90 miles of Wiltshire’s White Horse Trail, joined in the adventure by his wide-eyed 10-year-old son, Charlie.
The reader is taken on a lyrical meander through the natural wonders of southern England’s chalk downland environment, its people, heritage and wildlife. Along the way we explore the story of these striking equine hill figures and the role they have played in the cultures, belief systems and lived experiences of locals across the centuries.
There are eight White Horses still visible in the Wiltshire landscape today – Westbury, Devizes, Cherhill, Broad Town, Hackpen, Marlborough, Pewsey and Alton Barnes. The 90-mile walk takes in them all. The book also contains a bonus chapter on the Uffington White Horse.

If you are captivated by the direction the world would take in relation to climate change, sustainability, and inequality, this book is for you. Has it ever bothered you whether our day-to-day lives might change for the worse due to the long-term consequences of capitalism? Well, you are not alone; a plethora of scholars have been warning about it for quite some time. Mesmak Damene presents a powerful and thought-provoking exploration of the urgent need to reshape capitalism to align it with the capacity of nature and tackle the challenges we face as a species.
Drawing on a wealth of research and insights from various disciplines, the book argues that we need to achieve a planetary civilization before we can become multiplanetary. Despite innovative solutions, our current economic system is unsustainable and not designed to solve the pressing issues of climate change, inequality, and resource depletion. With clarity and vision, the book proposes a new way forward, one that recognizes the interconnectedness of our global economy and the need to manage the finite resources of our planet.
Through a comprehensive analysis, Planetary Civilization delves into the fundamental flaws of capitalism and offers innovative solutions that promote ecological balance, social justice, and economic stability. It advocates for a paradigm shift that prioritizes long-term sustainability, equitable distribution of resources, and collaboration across borders.
This timely and compelling book challenges conventional thinking and invites readers to envision a world where capitalism is redefined to serve the needs of both humanity and the environment. The book provides a roadmap for concerned citizens, activists, and policymakers who seek a more harmonious and resilient future, urging us to embrace a planetary perspective and work towards a more equitable and sustainable civilization.
Embark on a transformative journey with practical non-capitalist recommendations to avoid catastrophe and discover the critical path towards a future that balances prosperity, environmental stewardship, and social well-being to the optimum.

This story (told in poetry/vignettes) explores the experiences of a woman who was put into psychiatric care shortly after coming out as lesbian at age 15. This "care" started with psychiatric medication and ended with her involuntary psychiatric hospitalization where she was treated with electroconvulsive (shock) therapy - with parental consent - at the age of 16. She is in Canada, where medical care is free.
During her psychiatric care, she was provided with a collection of medications and a course of electroconvulsive therapy. This care was fundamental in shaping the subsequent decade of her life, and the choices she made. The poems and vignettes in this book primarily come from the notes/journals she kept throughout. It was pretty close to a decade after shock therapy (ECT) ended before she overcame the shattering this treatment caused: firstly as a direct result of the medical interventions themselves and secondly as a result of her unhealthy choices in coping mechanisms (sex, drugs and alcohol).

“If what comes next destroys me, Samson 714 Afador, then you will be the last living being with any tie to Vex. Swear to me you won’t let it die.”
For eight months, Helisent West of Jaws has laid low, riding out her banishment in the backwaters of Jaws. Farther south, Samson 714 Afador has taken the first steps as Velm’s rightful Male Alpha to claim his throne. The pair are on different paths, separated by a great physical distance, four years of lost memories, and a reborn animosity for the other.
But history has a way of repeating itself.
After hearing of a high-profile kidnapping on the coast, Samson and his pack head to Hypnos. The event occurred on a beach near where his mother disappeared seventeen years ago—and this time, local nymphs are preparing to sail after their lost okeanids. There’s just one catch: Samson’s greatest enemy, Helisent West of Jaws, was also abducted.
Intent on achieving his life’s greatest purpose, Samson isn’t keen on a new adventure—especially one that involves the red witch. Meanwhile, cut loose from all she’s ever known, Helisent is thrown into an unfathomable new world—one that will change her destiny forever.
In Book 2 of the Sennenwolf Series, one sassy red witch and one uptight boy-wolf are back on their bullshit—and they’ll need one another more than ever before if they want to survive this latest adventure.
Caught your interest?
Check out the blurb from West of Jaws, Book 1 of the Sennenwolf Series.
“The only thing dumber than convincing the imminent Male Alpha of Velm to help me find Oko would be falling in love with him along the way."
Helisent West of Jaws is a powerful witch with a penchant for combative shouting and hoarding brandy. Then there’s Samson 714 Afador, an uptight (possibly brooding) wolf who’s in line to lead Velm as its Male Alpha. When the pair meet in a seedy tavern in a city named Luz, it’s clear they have little in common.
Aside from a shared enemy named Oko.
Driven by private motives, the pair strike a deal to hunt down Oko—but trouble quickly follows. In the magical world of Mieira, wolves and witches share a gory past laden with conflict. Not even the peaceful, hedonistic nymphs have forgotten about the bloodshed of the War Years.
Despite this, what starts as a tense partnership between the witch and the wolf soon blossoms into friendship and something more—something layered with curiosity, and delight, and fear. Something that starts to involve a dangerous amount of trust.
As the pair close in on Oko, their discoveries begin to point to a single conclusion. One that will change life in Mieira forever. One that will force Helisent and Samson to ask—what’s worth more, finding Oko or fighting for each other?

Are we allowed to scrutinize public art, even if the public doesn’t pay for it?
It only took the city of Buffalo 15 minutes to shut it off and five days for Mayor Jimmy Griffin to tear down Billie Lawless’ sculpture “Green Lightning” in 1984.
It may have had something to do with dancing neon figures that resembled Mr. Peanut. But, to this day, it’s unclear if the artist tricked the city or the city acted hastily.
Now, forty years later, we perform an autopsy on “Green Lightning” to determine what really happened.

When Lina’s idyllic childhood descends into mental chaos in her teenage years, she resorts to recording her thoughts to make sense of her anguish. Through Lina’s heart-wrenching words, the reader steps into her broken inner world to experience first-hand the obsessions, irrationality, angst and ruthlessness of teenage borderline personality disorder. Emo Reality shines a light into the dark corners of adolescent mental illness, demonstrating its ravages not just upon an individual, but upon a whole family.
Lina and her sister shared their lives obsessively with their friends, writing millions of words. The past and present events are their direct experience, condensed into a memoir by her father, who softened their offensive language. The future events—Lina’s therapy and reflections—were added by her father and a psychologist with access to the original sources. In these, Lina navigates the ineluctable evidence in her archives, coached by her therapist. Her research opens a path to love: by identifying and releasing her burden of false memories, blame, and spite, Lina affirms her emotions while questioning her perceptions. Emo Reality is for teens, young adults, and their families, to increase mental health awareness.
"I liked the way this book was written. It had me hooked from the start and was a really interesting read, something completely different to anything I’ve read before."—Joellen L, UK.
"As a mental health therapist I found the mental health representation to be very accurate and insightful. A great job of crafting an interesting narrative based on a real family’s lived experience, and ending with valuable information."—Stephanie L, US.
"We are immersed into the perspective of Lina, now a young adult who’s looking back on her life. This book brought me to tears as Lina recounts episodes of hallucinations and misremembering, a harrowing exploration of someone’s life living with mental illness."—Alicia C, US.
"As a therapist I jumped at the opportunity to read this biography. The author did a wonderful job of explaining the complexities related to mental health and I especially enjoyed the timeframe from childhood to adulthood in terms of how the disorder progressed. I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in mental health and psychology."—Alex E, US.
"An unusual book that tells the story of a family who experienced a range of mental health and unhealthy family dynamics. It is strangely compelling, like peeking into a diary, giving insight into how mental health struggles can affect a family in crashing waves. This will be particularly powerful for readers who relate to aspects of it and have not seen themselves reflected so bluntly in a book before."—Amelia J, US.
"Lina is not diagnosed in her younger years which leads to issues at school and with her family. Her mother is immature and self-absorbed, having a relationship with her daughters like that of a friend. Lina’s father was away from home and unaware of the seriousness of Lina’s behavior. The book gives insight into BPD and was definitely worth the read."—Toni R, US.
"As a teenager who has borderline personality disorder it’s nice to know that I’m not alone and that other people are there too."—Sreedevi D, TT.
"Wow! This book was a journey. Growing up in a dysfunctional household with her distant father, her mother who speaks terrible English, and her sister who can’t seem to stay on her side, Lina’s personalities multiply while her diagnosis keeps being misinformed. Kudos for a lovely book on a difficult topic."—Tracy B, US.

Will the truth you long ignored come back to bite you? Why did you choose to not hear when your true love insisted you should listen?
Maddie Anderson had to learn this the hard way. The path to her true love would prove to be winding and twisting. And a path that she would have to learn to maneuver on her own. Maddie never anticipated that the first stop in her search for happiness would be Lourdes Russo, the single, beautiful, mature woman that started working alongside her in the Cardio-Pulmonary department at CAPMED. Lourdes seemed full of wisdom and beauty that Maddie would only be able to explore briefly. Lourdes seems all too eager to get to know the younger woman, despite Maddie trying desperately to show her the ways they differ. For Lourdes, the similarities far outweighed the differences.
When CAPMED starts to discuss budget cuts, Maddie has difficulty giving the patients proper care and being the fast-paced nurse the staff desire. Maddie questions how it's possible to give good patient care when you're trying to rush them through like they're only a number. That's when Maddie's health starts to deteriorate, and her stress increases. Lourdes insists that Maddie can't do all she wants to do until she prioritizes her health first, but that does not go over so well. Maddie asks why Lourdes can't be sympathetic, and doubt settles in on whether their bond is strong enough to overcome those hurdles. The break-up is inevitable.
Maddie works on nurturing her broken heart the only way she knows how: work, work, and more work. That does not go well. The stress becomes too much, and a panic attack puts Maddie in the place she wanted to avoid at all costs: a hospital bed. Maddie has a deep desire for one thing missing in her life: Lourdes Russo. But sometimes you don't always get what you desire. Will Maddie find her happy ever after? Lourdes was right all along, but will Maddie's improving health be enough to get them back together? Or will it be too little, too late?

Jewish identity and love for Israel starts in the home. The commentary of the Chinitz Zion Haggadah transforms Passover to becoming the premier Zionist holiday on the Jewish calendar.
The Passover Seder, when we experience our redemption from slavery by God’s hand to become a nation, is the prime time to focus on the very close relationship between modern Israel and biblical times, when God took us out of Egypt to bring us to the Promised Land. Zionism began with our redemption from Egypt. The first section of the commentary focuses on how our traditional Haggadah, born in the galut, would have been different had it been written today. The Hatikvah, prayer for Israel and prayer for the IDF and perhaps a fifth cup are included. As we read the traditional text, we read many commentaries relating the lessons of the traditional Haggadah to the lessons of modern Israel.
But the Chinitz Zion Haggadah is not just a reinterpretation of the Haggadah. This Haggadah teaches the seder leader how to teach Zionism, and teaches the seder participants the desperate need for every Jew to participate in this Zionist dream. Passivity in our challenging times must be replaced by action.
Passover seders will be very different in the next years. Every seder should have an empty chair with picture and name of an Israeli brutalized on October 7, 2023. The very tenets of modern Israel are being challenged, especially by our youth. In the last 30 pages of the text are 13 essays explaining the very basics of defending Israel, and include essays regarding antisemitism, Palestinian refugee camps, Jewish refugees, the West Bank/Judea and Samaria, Gaza, limits of criticism of Israel, the two state solution, definitions of right, centrist, liberal and progressive Jews, and many more, Dr. Chinitz encourages a discussion during each seder meal of at least some of these topics. The essays outline the basic facts, so that no discussion is based on emotions. The essays encourage serious, respectful debate. By reading and studying this Haggadah, the seder leader can best teach (a prime seder commandment) a love for Israel to all present.
A moving afterword regarding the Gaza war concludes the Haggadah.
Reviews
“Congratulations to Dr. Marvin Chinitz for writing a unique new Haggadah which we should all make room for on our Seder tables. His mission is to bring the Zionist dream and its current reality in Israel into our Passover discussions where it belongs.” —Joe Lieberman, former United States Senator
“Dr. Marvin Aaron Chinitz’s Chinitz Zion Haggadah is unique amongst the plethora of English commentaries as it masterfully focuses on the miracle of the establishment and flourishing of the State of Israel. While the Haggadah text primarily deals with leaving Egypt, Dr. Chinitz beautifully illustrates that entry into Israel is of equal import. Thus, Passover is not only a memory of “freedom from” but the living lesson of “freedom to.” The Chinitz Zion Haggadah will intellectually and emotionally uplift the serious student and inspire readers to protect and contribute to Israel’s aspirational mission of being a light to the world.” —Rabbi Avi Weiss, founder, Hebrew Institute of Riverdale – the Bayit
“Dr. Chinitz’s original commentaries, interwoven with traditional texts and sources, raise essential questions that must be discussed at our Seder tables (and throughout the year).” —Harriet Schleifer, Chair, Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations
“Thanks to Dr. Chinitz, generations to come will learn the essential Pesach story.” —Peter Weintraub, former national chairman, Friends of the Israel Defense Forces
“Will his Haggadah reach the popular fame of the legendary Maxwell House version? Only time will tell, of course, but on its merits, it absolutely should.” —David Harris CEO, American Jewish Committee, 1990–2022

An illustrated poetry collection, The Scream is an effort to lay bare the cruelty, injustice, and suffering of those who are marginalized and oppressed, those who are called others, wretched outcasts, and destitute inferiors who have been pushed into a dark abyss. This collection was born out of a desire to confront the untold truths of those left out and ignored.
"Is it a cry born out of pain, an act of defiance or an appeal for understanding? The Scream is a courageous book that revivifies repetition as the tradition of classical Persian poetry. Through these assemblages, Sukoot illuminates the narratives of an author—and a people—who have been to hell and back, and been traumatized by wounds so deep they may never heal. Bearing witness to agonies of oppression and the shock of tyranny, the poems reverberate in the brain long after they have touched us on the page." —Rebecca Ruth Gould, Distinguished Professor of Comparative Poetics and the author of Writers and Rebels
"Out of pain, trauma 'as the anthem of war comes to an end,' Sukoot, dares to draw the 'sacred utterance.' In anguish, a silence breaks open, asks what wrongdoings can be righted when there is 'no ear to hear…no eye to see.' The Scream awakens sorrow, alienation, and provides apt courage, through word and image, to lament the long aggrieved. An essential, passionate collection, which wrestles against the physical domination of spirit." —Maureen Alsop, PhD, Tony Quagliano Poetry Award winner and the author of Pyre
"A bold exploration of the many voices that lie between the Iranian people and the Persian literary heritage, this is an intense and moving collection that will be loved by those who are familiar with Iranian literature as well as new readers. This is protest poetry at its most beautiful, poetic, and raw." —Aaron Kent, the director of Broken Sleep Books and the author of The Working Classic

Discover the Realities of Contemporary Korea
"Hi, nice to meet you. This is my third blind date this week, so... let's get the usual stuff out of the way and decide where to go from there. Great, I'll start. First, what's your age? Your academic background? How much do you make? And your parents? How many siblings do you have? Any debt in the family? How much do you have in your savings account right now? Where do you live in the city? What kind of car do you drive? Purchased or leased?"
Any office worker will tell you nearly every date opens with a conversation just like this. Ticking each of these boxes is simply what it takes to thrive in one of the most fast-paced cities on the planet, with the expectations of family and friends bearing down on you at every moment. People are always made aware of exactly what they bring to the table in terms of their relationships, their companies, their families, and even their social media profiles.
Meet a group of privileged white-collar workers navigating their way through the cutthroat corporate landscape of Seoul. As they juggle day trading, crypto investments, and real estate hustles, they're constantly comparing themselves to others, both in person and online.
The allure of glossy boy bands and psychological thrillers are just two sides of the same culture, as this novel delves into the heart of Korean society – competitive, materialistic, and unyielding.
A Mirror for the Blind was widely acclaimed in Korean literary circles for its raw portrayal of contemporary Korean society. Now, translated into English, this book grants curious readers a rare opportunity to explore the complexities of life in Korea.
As each character navigates their own personal rat race, they can't seem to shake the constant impulse to compare themselves with and be compared to others. This phenomenon embedded deep within Korean culture extends even to online spaces, like on an anonymous company chat board everyone checks religiously but no one admits to using.
Constantly looking down at the screens of their phones, they slowly begin to see their own reflections staring back at them and must face what it is that they see.
Experience the struggles, aspirations, and dreams of Seoulites as they peer into the glowing screens of their phones, searching for answers in a society where nothing is as it seems.

Perestroika overthrows communist regimes in Europe.
In the People's Republic of Slavia the former leaders are trying to survive the new times, while their victims seek revenge.
Former President Alfred Ionescu is placed in an asylum he himself built. Zut Zdanov, the head of culture, is confronted with his child abuse. Helena Yava, responsible for education, wants to avenge her lover's death. Igor Olin, responsible for the economy, fights for his disabled son to have a dignified life. Art historian Silvia Lenka wants to know who her parents are. Lia Kirchner, the daughter of a painter who died in a re-education camp, wants to know the truth.
Having as a binding element Pilate's question to Jesus “what is truth?”, Perestroika is a novel of revenge, redemption and catharsis inspired by recent European history.
Because of the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the threat of a third world war, I think this book addresses issues of critical interest in discussions on the problems of today's world.

"Grasslands by Shekhar Khatri offers a mix of fantasy, magical realism, surrealism, and absurdist fiction that explores timeless philosophical questions and the most primeval of human desires." —Fermosalua at The Chrysalis BREW Project
"Grasslands is Shekhar Khatri’s debut novel, and the literary world would do well to pay attention. From all indications, the well of Khatri’s creativity is very, very deep, and readers hungry for innovation have much to look forward to in his future work. Those willing to cast aside any presupposed notions of how a narrative has traditionally been constructed and embrace the tesseract of Khatri’s groundbreaking multi-layered, interwoven alternate realities will no doubt be richly rewarded for having done so. Shekhar Khatri’s Grasslands is a rare glimpse of uncharted literary territory, ideal for those seeking a bit of literary magic and mysticism with a surreal twist." 5/5 —Rich Follett at Reader's Favorite

Gabriel Staub is a writer adrift in his early 30s whose older sister, Becca, is a brilliant, tempestuous—and world-famous—artist. Gabriel has spent his life in the shadow of Becca's success, and he is haunted by a childhood incident that traumatized her. A chance encounter with an old friend offers him unexpected companionship, but also forces him to confront his painful past.
Providence is a story about friendship, art, and memory set amid the contemporary New York of glamorous high-rises and glitzy art galleries, with detours to France, Italy, the Slovak Republic, and the backwoods of the Catskill Mountains. Meditative and searching, the novel tells of coming of age amid loss and solitude.

Leaving Bacon Behind provides a comprehensive, easy-to-read guide for conversion that focuses on questions prospective Jews by Choice might have, including "Why should one convert to Judaism?" and "What happens after the conversion?"
This book is a direct result of the questions the author fielded during his time as a moderator in one of the largest Jewish-by-Choice internet communities and his own personal experience as a disabled transsexual Jew by Choice. This includes content discussed in Judaism conversion classes and live courses, as well as questions, comments, and feedback from prospective and successful Jews by Choice. No other book on Jewish conversion has incorporated widescale, peer-reviewed feedback from the target community.
As the author does not fit the stereotype of an able-bodied, middle-class, white heterosexual female converting for marriage, this book includes a section of additional considerations for converting on a budget, if one is LGBT, disabled, or non-white, if one is already married to a non-Jew, or if one already has children.
Leaving Bacon Behind is sure to be a must-read conversion classic.

In his fourth literary offering, Andrew Chatora gives us eleven stories written in a wide range of settings and painting the lives of Zimbabweans from different walks of life. From the impenetrable Harare prison to the working class Mutare and its domain of shebeen queens to suburban Harare and a politically charged United Kingdom in a post Brexit world, Chatora takes the reader on a grand tour of outrage. Notwithstanding the shifts in scene and setting, these stories have one pervasive theme in common - they capture the suffocation and desperation of Zimbabwe and her Diaspora and fully describe the precariousness of living in environments that are increasingly hostile.
Inside Harare Alcatraz and Other Short Stories transcends the grass is never greener perspective with a nuanced interrogation of the socio-political realities of its characters. Chatora fashions a diverse cast of characters whose complexities and eccentricities evoke the utmost in us.
''Inside Harare Alcatraz and Other Short Stories affords Andrew Chatora to tell his story with more urgency than before. Chatora roars into centre stage with this charmed confluence of the novella, the essay, the treatise, the short story and the vignette. Here is a collection to startle you out of your complacency.'' —Memory Chirere, University of Zimbabwe

This is hard for Kevin as he only believes in things told or shown to him if there is always further evidence to prove this.
On his second quest given to him by the master wizard of all time Merlin, Kevin meets even more magical folk and mystical creatures on this journey. The mirror that shows all is hidden deep in the book so see if you can find it and think what it is all about.
In this second quest, Kevin meets many magical folk that still live today thought to have past away many years ago back in the medieval ages. Kevin must use his cunning on one person called the Father of the Gods.
Although Kevin is about to turn fourteen very soon, it is noted that he still has the strong mannerisms and still continues to question things even though he knows that his whole world has been turned upside down since understanding that he is a wizard in a totally different world now.
Follow Kevin, his brother Paul and all his friends both old and new, on this magical quest and let yourself become kevin meeting all these interesting folk and creatures in this fantastic fantasy world.
