- About My Library
- 15.03.2016: In preparation of a move, my library is in turmoil right now. There are boxes marked "bin", "library" and "bookcrossing", and for the first time in years there is actually space on the shelves! Meaning that the collection "My collection" is not up to date and won't be for a while (I'll be going through the shelves and the catalog after the move). But it still mirrors my reading habits! As does the collection Purged (those I have moved on from :-) ).
Bought recently:
Click here to see the last 10 books I bought for my library or got as a gift.
I also collect my audiobooks and radioplays here, mainly to make them accessible for friends and family to borrow them. They are all in the collection Electronic recordings and labelled [radioplay] or [audiobook] in the title.
Quotes from and on books and readers:
"Wenn „Huck Finn“ schon auf einem Index steht, wo steht dann „Onkel Toms Hütte“? In der Bibliothek von Jorge von Burgos?" LEO.org user Urihoch3
"Thanks for having me check Neil Gaiman out. I mean, who needs rock 'n' roll with writers like that?" (Thingamabrarian Pemberley)
***
"Wenn ein Buch und ein Kopf zusammenstoßen, und es klingt hohl, ist das allemal im Buch?" (Georg Christoph Lichtenberg, Aphorismen)
***
"Given that there are only 16 or so basic plots (unless the bookworld upgrade to a 32-plot operating system has happened yet) it's hard for any current author to achieve total newness." (Thingamabrarian reading_fox)
"Whenever the literary German dives into a sentence, that is the last you are going to see of him till he emerges on the other side of his Atlantic with his verb in his mouth."
(Mark Twain, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court)

And now for something completely different:
"But what do I know, I don't even know what an ideological superstructure is. What happens when it hits an iceberg?" Guardian reader CommanderKeen - About Me
