Quant a miAmateur naturalist, introvert, bibliophile, and aspiring writer living in British Columbia, Canada. Generally more comfortable with books, cats, and trees than I am with other human beings. Obsessed with making lists. Fond of semicolons and parentheses. Far more obsessed with tagging my books than can possibly be healthy. I read an alarming number of books (usually 150-200+) in a year. 25 or 50 book challenges? Those are a joke, right?
Quant a
la meva bibliotecaIn fiction, I read mostly fantasy, with a dash of science fiction and some classics, especially classic children's literature. I'm currently interested in the mannerpunk / fantasy of manners / historical fantasy subgenres, and I'm also trying to read more fantasy with lgbtq+ characters, especially if it also fits into the above-mentioned subgenres. Occasionally, I try to branch out into other genres (historical fiction, romance, mystery, etc.).
In non-fiction, I read books on nature, science, poetry, mythology, spirituality, crafts, gardening, and probably a few other topics too. Lately, I've been focusing on re-reading my non-fiction collection and weeding out some titles.
Some explanation of my ratings (mostly as a reminder to myself):
- 5 stars: books that I really, really love
- 4 or 4 1/2 stars: good books that I like a lot
- 3 or 3 1/2 stars: a decent book but one that I don't personally enjoy; a book that is obviously not great literature but that I am fond of nonetheless; some combination of the above possibilities; a catch-all rating for books that I'm not sure of
- 2 or 2 1/2 stars: a book that I didn't care for and that is not that great, but that still might have some value for someone, somewhere
- 1 or 1 1/2 stars: not a good book, probably not worth reading
- 1/2 star: truly abysmal (I don't think I've ever used this rating, which is probably a good thing.)
