Quant a miI'm living in the North of Israel, a happily married mother of four, and art historian.
Quant a
la meva bibliotecaI read German, English (most of my art books are in English anyway), Hebrew (slowly but surely), Dutch (though I can't speak it I read Dutch quite well), and French (I used to read French with pleasure but it seems Hebrew has swallowed up all my other language skills).
I buy new books and quite a lot of older ones, too. My oldest book is from the middle of the 19th century, a collection of German fairy tales. As a lover of German literature of the 18th and 19th century, I read Fraktur scripts with ease (as most German readers over the age of 30 do).
I have the habit of jotting down my impressions of a book and the date when I read or re-read it on the last blank page of a book. Beloved books in my library like Tolstoy's War and Peace and Stifter's Nachsommer have accompanied me for decades now, and my changing reactions to the books are recorded on these blank pages. You could say my library serves as kind of journal.
When I don't like the cover of a book, I'll change it. I collect good quality colored prints to change the looks of a book that looks tattered or uninspired.
You will hardly ever find me without a book in my handbag...
