Sobre la meva biblioteca
I use this account to keep tracks of books -- not yet read or owned -- on subjects that I take a professional interest in. It's a brain annex: My way of making sure that I can, months or years after I saw it, remember "That book about the history of Three-Mile Island by the guy who also wrote about Hiroshima." Subjects that are likely to be well-represented here are:

History of modern science in general
History of modern technology in general
Nuclear weapons and nuclear power
Rocketry and space travel
Human attempts to control nature
Robots, androids, cyborgs, and clones
Aviation and aerospace technology
Technology and warfare
History and social impact of mass media
Technological disasters
Scholarly studies of fringe science
History and criticism of science fiction
Scholarly studies of popular culture
Popular histories of science (Sobel, Standage, Winchester)

BUT: Books related to depictions of science and technology in popular culture, and depictions of historical people and events on film, are (if I don't own them) over in my main account (in the "Wishlist" and "Library List" collections).

Sobre mi
I'm really A. Bowdoin Van Riper . . . a historian who teaches and writes about the social and cultural dimensions of modern (post-1800) science and technology. My primary LT account (which reflects the books I own and some -- but by no means all -- of the books I've read and no longer own) is here.
