Sobre la meva biblioteca
I have read over 100 art instruction books and numerous books providing advice for an art career. If you don't see a particular book in my Library, email me. Chances are I have read it but I simply haven't gotten around to doing a review.
Sobre mi
I am an abstract/impressionist landscape painter based in Louisville, KY. I practiced law for 25 years, but I have had an affinity for art my whole life. I was born and raised in the Midwest and South. I paid my own way through law school and self-financed a successful legal career, helping others less fortunate than myself. When I decided to leave the practice of law and pursue a full-time art career, I brought the same characteristics to bear. Determined to learn as much as I could, I doggedly devoured hundreds of books, articles and instructional videos and attended numerous art workshops. I joined several art associations, exhibited my work and was accepted into numerous juried art shows, where my paintings have sold well.

My style ranges from logical and analytical to mystic and spiritual, no doubt influenced by my background in law and my interest in religion and philosophy (in which I also have a degree). In my landscape paintings my aim is to capture to emotion and spiritual element of a scene that appeals to me in some way. It may be the way the light falls, a dramatic sky, sparkling water reflections, the rugged texture of rocks, or the rhythm of hills or mountains. I want the viewer to feel the same type of emotional and spiritual connection with the painting that attracted me to the scene in the first place. My Tiles series, by contrast, is purely about exploring texture, color and abstract shapes in as many ways as I can conjure up. My works juxtapose these elements in various ways, to play one off the other. Determining the arrangement of shapes, colors and the materials that I will use to create texture is like assembling a jigsaw puzzle. It appeals to my logical and analytical side. There is a certain "yin and yang" that moves me back and forth between the emotional, spiritual landscapes and the more analytical paintings.
