- Sobre la meva biblioteca
I have been woefully unmethodical about adding books. I started my LT library by adding textbooks from the last couple of years of college. I've since added a random selection of the books on my shelves as I pull them out to re-read them (or read them for the first time). I catalog books I borrow from the library or from friends in my Read But Unowned collection, and I do not count them in My Library.
Ever since I got my first Kobo e-reader in 2011, I've been on an ebook reading binge (before the pandemic, most of my reading time was on my commute where the convenience of an e-reader is invaluable). I've gotten very good about limiting the number of paper books I bring into the house, but I cannot lie: I am a sucker for an ebook sale.
My Rating Scale:= One of the best of the year, if not ever.
= A wonderful read, among my favorites of the year.
= A great read; truly enjoyable.
= I'm glad I read this.
= Pretty good, with a few things done well.
= Average, and life is too short to read average works.
= A bit below average. A waste of time.
= Nearly no redeeming qualities. Really rather bad.
= Among the worst books I've ever read.

I spent 18 years as a newspaper reporter and editor until I saw the writing on the wall in 2002 and quit. I returned to university full-time to finish the undergraduate degree I abandoned when I was sure I'd be a journalist for the rest of my life, and graduated in 2007 with dual BAs in History and Geography.
I currently work at my alma mater in the study abroad office, where I do a little bit of everything — database administration primarily but also general admin and the ubiquitous "other duties as assigned." It's a challenging and rewarding job; I enjoy interacting with students and I've got some first-rate colleagues who enhance the highs and temper the lows.
Besides reading (just about anything except graphic novels), I do a little (unpublished) writing, a little knitting, and a little needlework. I also listen to a lot of music. My most fervent fangirling is reserved for Bruce Springsteen, whom I've seen in concert 30 times, most recently his one-man show on Broadway in 2018. I grew up on country music (the real stuff), and I still listen to a lot of really good country and Americana music (I define "good" as "not what you hear on the radio"). If you'd like some suggestions, just ask!
