I usually buy my books fifteen(or more) at a time when I go to either London or Manchester, purely because I don't have a decent bookshop near me for miles. I very rarely use the library because I never have time to go there, unfortunately! And then there's Amazon which I use if I absolutely cannot get my hands on a book.

It occured to me, having failed my English Literature exam so heroically that my college were basically forced to kick me off the course, that I was only ever reading what people were telling me to read, and my love for books was escaping me, like Frankenstein's Monster in the Arctic Circle. You're studying Thomas Hardy's poetry? You better read Tess of the D'ubervilles! Oh, you haven't read Wuthering Heights yet? Don't delay! And, OK, yes, I am speaking more articulately (to the extent that sometimes I have to inwardly slap myself) and my brain is fuller, but I'm not happy. I didn't become such an avid reader because I quite liked the sound of that metaphor or because Charles Dickens released his novels in installments. I'm became an avid reader because I enjoyed the stories and I enjoyed the adventures. Thanks to the likes Enid Blyton and J. K. Rowling I've been doing that since a young age, and now I don't have to read every single book that my teacher refers to, so I can do that again.

I'm a young adult, a teenager, so I'm going to read young adult and teenage novels. I haven't done that since I was about eleven. There's something wrong there! So in short, this academic year, I'm going to read whatever I want because I have no one to impress.
