I've been frequenting Meljean Brook's blog since The Iron Duke and she's doing a Steampunk Romance week. I'm totally psyched because I love Steampunk and I love Romance--and they don't always mesh. Now I feel like I'm not alone. Or am I...?

It seems like this is the only title that comes up when I put the words "steampunk" and "romance" together. I'm reading this right now on my Kindle and I'm liking it, though it's a little tough to master her universe's vocabulary and oddities.

I really liked Brook's The Iron Duke. I also found the Steam and Steel Chronicles by Cameron Chapman, C.J. Archer, and Cindy Spencer Pape's Steam and Sorcery and Photographs and Phantoms which also have a fantasy component. And the funny Parasol Protectorate series that starts with Soulless by Gail Carriger.

>3 Robreads:,
I just finished Photographs & Phantoms by Cindy Spencer Pape. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Rubita and almhyacinthgirl,
We've put out several Steampunk books in our Carina Press imprint and one (plus a prequel) in our Harlequin Teen imprint. I hate to talk about them too much here, though, b/c it's a fine line between discussing them (esp since I've only read a few and can only personally talk about those) and being seen as promoting them. So please believe me when I say that I'd love to help you find our Steampunk books because I just love helping people find books that work for them and I'd love it if ours worked for you. If you want to message me for more info, please do. Otherwise, I'll leave it at almost all of our Steampunks have romance, at least one does not.

Best,

Penn

Below is a link to Teach Me Tonight's blog entry from Thursday (June 30th). Teach Me Tonight is for the academic exploration of romance. The entry I'm linking to is calling for papers on Steampunk (for the academics) but it also has a few links to some articles and blogs on Steampunk romances - and not a one is a Harlequin! :) or should I be sad? Anyway, I hope it is of interest and helps you find some Steampunk romances that you've not yet discovered.

PS - I love the pic they've used. What do you all think?
