I'm reading Jeff Shaara's RISE TO REBELLION, a novel of the American Revolution, and it occurred to me that it would be interesting to read a novel about the same subject, only written by someone British or from some part of the UK.

The only novel written by a British author I can think of off the top of my head is The Fort: A Novel of the Revolutionary War by Bernard Cornwell.

Haven't tried Jeff Shaara since I gave up on Gods and Generals for reasons of style, so I haven't looked at any of his works since and don't know the specifics of RTR. (Was supposed to read G&G for my historical fiction book group, but just couldn't. Also didn't make it through Carter's Hornet's Nest.)

One suggestion I have would be to go to the Amazon UK site and do a keyword search for "American Revolution" or "Revolutionary War" or "American War of Independence" with "Fiction" selected as the subject. You could also try searching at the Web site for a British bookstore, Waterstone's, e.g.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I like Cornwell, but somehow expect he'd write from the american point of view rather than the British point of view. Haven't yet read any of his novels on the American Revolution. This does give me an idea. Cornwell answers most fan's questions on his website. He could probably give me some ideas.
