Here is the S.O.S. that two associations launched recently to save the scenic railway of La Mure. The translation of the petition is mine.
Several important collapses (Landslip, Rock falls) took place on the line of the railway of La Mure in the end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011. The classification in a natural disaster (a French procedure led by the mayors, which allows the releasing of insurances) was not even asked. The staff was dismissed for economic reason with total cessation of the activity of the railway of La Mure. Apparently, nobody seems to have been planned for the surveillance of the installations and the equipment begins to be plundered and vandalized. Let us remind that this line of 30 km contains 142 works of engineering on a climb by 560 meters and contains gradients of 28 per thousand. The train of La Mure transported 90.000 travelers and tourists a year.
It is the real SOS which we launch for this railroad which is one of the tourist flagships of Dauphiné is which would deserve a classification in the UNESCO world heritage as its lines Swiss sisters of the Albula and the Bernina, the lines which have already obtained this classification in July, 2008. The Swiss nickname this line in the remarkable panorama " French-style Albula ", it is to say its interest of 1st order.
Thank you for supporting our action by signing this petition.

Petition to be returned with your name, address and signature at :
