I've purchased a couple of copies of Pendle Hill Pamphlet 408, An Art of Small Resurrections: Surviving the Texas Death Chamber by Walter Long. Long is an Austin, Texas attorney who specializes in death-sentence cases. He makes any number of good points, all of which I've heard or read in various other places -- and then he drops the bomb on me: a new theory (at least to me) that the notion that Jesus died for our sins is a myth created by a group of followers who were desperately seeking some way to make sense of a senseless act of violence. He supports his hypothesis with modern psychology's take on post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

What a gem our Pendle Hill Pamphlets are!
