The question of political moderatism (I know it's not a real word, but moderation simply doesn't work in the sense that I'm using it here) is really one of outlook rather than policy.
You can be extremely conservative or extremely liberal and still be a political moderate (admittedly, though, it's less likely to be the case). It's really about the Golden Rule: treat others as you yourself would like to be treated. Or, as my mother used to tell me, you can disagree with someone without being disagreeable.
