Wow, way to go, beatles1964. Six books already and January isn't even over... Nice!

Thanks OscarWilde87. Last year I read nine books in January so I'm hoing to be able to read at least 10 or more this time around. Besides reading 10 books in January will put me ahead of my 2012 pace when I read 62 books.

That's an awesome pace! I just hope I'll make it to 25 again this year.
Oh, and I have just seen that you read Roth's The Breast. How did you like it? I so love Roth. My favorite Roth novel (yet) is The Human Stain. I can definitely recommend that one!

OscarWilde87, if you go over to the 100 Book Challenge Group you'll see my comments on what
I thought of The Breast. Thanks for the recommendation of The Human Stain. I'll have to look into it. What is your opinion of The Breast? If I can keep up ahead of my 2012 pace I should easily read well over a 100 books this year.

Lakenvelder, I seriously doubt it. Right now I'd say I'm on a pace to read 100 or more books for the year since I didn't read my 14th in 2012 until March 6.

17. I finished Quidditch Through the Ages by Kennilworthy Whisp last evening so I finished the month of February reading 8 books. Lakenvelder you could be right about me reaching 25 books by the end of March. I enjoyed reading Quiddith Through the Ages however I would've preferred to have had it a lot longer like the 7 Volumes in The Harry Potter Series. As of this time last year I had only read 13 books & I didn't read my 17th book until 3/31/12. And by this date in 2011 I had only read 9 books. I didn't read my 10th book of 2011 until 3/2/11. I only read 25 books for the entire year of 2011. So you see the kinda reading pace I'm on for 2013.

I'm in Uncharrted Territory because I've never read 17 books in 2 months in my entire life. And I've been keeping a yearly record of the books I read since 1980. I've seemed to have lost some of those records for the books I read betweeen the years 1980-2005. Though I have enough of them to know for sure that I've never done this before. Because there were some years where I didn't even read anywhere near 17 books for the entire year. Other years I'd rea over 20 something-30 something books in a year. I may be able to recover the records for the years: 2001, 2003, 2004 & 2005 since I've been writing in Diaries & Journals since 2001. Then I'd have an accurate yearly record of my reading habits since 2001 to present. Right now I can only locate the records of books I've read from 2006 to Present.

I do not think I have ever read as many books in two months before but it is fun.

That pace is indeed amazing! I haven't read as much books in two months either... At the minute I'm struggling to make time for reading, just loads of other stuff to do... I tend to feel bad in times like these...

Oh, Frankenstein. I always wanted to read that! How is it actually?

I liked it but it's definitely different from the Hollywood film versions where all he does is grunt and look menacingly at people. He's actually quite intelligent but determined to kill his Creator Victor Frankenstein because he wouldn't creat a mate for him. He said he'd leave him alone if he created a mate but Dr. Frankenstein refused. And there wasn't any scene where the monster was on a slab in the Laboratory with Lightning striking him and Dr. Frankenstein saying, It's Alive, It's Alive. The monster kept killing the people closest to him so he'd change his mind and create him a mate. He also kept following Dr. Frankenstein everywhere he went and there also wasn't any kind of angry Mob with torches storming the Castle at night and burning it to the ground. So the Hollywood versions are completely different from her book.

When I read Bram Stoker's Dracula last year it was really disappointing. The Hollywood versions are much better than Stoker's book. Though of course I prefer the Hammer Films versions to any of the Hollywood versions of Dracula. And in my mind without a doubt Christopher Lee is the best Dracula of them all. And I didn't like the way the book ended too. I thought Stoker could've had it where Dracula escaped and then write a bunch of sequels about the adventures of Dracula where he's chased all over the world.

I just decided that I definitely have to go for the book then. Usually I read the book first and watch the movie later (only to find out that the book is way better than the movie...apart from few exceptions where the movie is as good as the book) but this time it'll be the other way round. I wonder what that will be like. So, Frankenstein is on my TBR pile for this year, most definitely.

25. The Barbarian Princess by Laura Buchanan

I've been a member of this group every year since 2008 and every year I've either read 25
or more books. For me the 25 Book Challenge is the easiest one to complete. Up until 2010 I never imagined I'd read 50 or more books in a single year. Now this is the year I finally reach the Goals of the 75 & 100 Book Challenges. Each New Year one of my Resolutions is to read more books than the previous year. Of course it always doesn't work out for me.

Thanks OscarWilde87 it feels good to be on an unbelievable reading pace. This is the earliest I've read 25 finished reading 25 books. Especially since there were some years where I'd read less than 10 or 12 books. The only book I've read by your name sake is The Picture of Dorian Gray. I loved the book. It was creepy how he'd stay so young while his picture aged. Maybe he had accidentally found The Fountain of Youth but unfortunately in the end he wanted to restore the beauty of the picture so he then aged and died a very old man. As long as I remained young what did it matter what the picture looked like??

I read The Picture of Dorian Gray several times and loved it each time. It's such a great book. Another Wilde you should read (or even better: see on stage) is The Importance of Being Earnest. I saw it performed by a Dublin Theater Company a few years ago and it was amazing. But it's definitely also a good read. And it's short. Maybe another one on your way to 50 or even 75 books this year?
I hope that I'll manage the 25 this year. Doesn't look too good at the minute but I'm counting on the summer when I tend to read loads.

I have seen the original 1952 movie version on TV. I hope you'll be able to read 25 books this year too. They don't play that movie on TV too much even on AMC or Turner Classic Movies.
