Finished this volume and I really LOVE it! It was so well done. The art work was beautiful. The storyline was well done. Lots of characters that I wondered about before now had a role I understood. This is my favorite volume so far.

I finished this one yesterday. Another of my favorites of the series. I love how Gaiman effortlessly and seemlessly mixes mythological creatures with his own inventions. And I love how he is presenting Hell as a place driven by the sinner's own experience of needing to be punished. The Breschau character is extremely interesting.

I liked Lucifer's reaction to Breschau :-)

I've finished this installment as well now (reviewed over here) and it's ... erm ... another favorite. :)

I'm not a fan of the art, though. Actually, I do like the art, but Kelley Jones can't draw faces to save his life and it's irritating the heck out of me. Overall it's a step up, though, that's for sure. And Thor is a creation of genius - love his arms! :)

"Hell as a place driven by the sinner's own experience of needing to be punished"
As well as a choice - every one ends up where they think they should be (heaven or hell).

I love when Remiel tells them they are there to be redeemed rather than punished and they truly suffer because of that - they don't want redemption! :)

I also just finished Season of Mists, I am loving the whole Sandman experience. After the opening volume, each one has woven threads of previous ones into it's storyline and also opened new avenues to be explored later and I greatly appreciate how this series never underestimates it's readers.

The Doll's House is still my favorite so far, but this one is very good and probably does the most toward advancing the story. I loved the resolution of Nada's story, and I loved Thor and his hammer! What can I say, I am obviously a fan.

I will post my review to the books' main page.

I think Lucifer is one of my favourite characters in The Sandman, I still like the unexpectedness of the tale even though I know whats coming. I love the doors to hell and I love the story of the dead school boys. I loved the cardboard box and I love Thor.

I also want a copy of the key the hell ;) Not the real thing of course.. oh no.

Just finished this volume and it may be my favorite so far. Lucifer's actions were ... unexpected ... and what followed made sense in an odd sort of way. The participation of all the mythological characters made for a couple of great chapters.

Like the rest of you, I also loved this volume! The following quotation from The Sandman Companion really stuck in my mind. In an interview, Hy Bender is asking Gaiman about all the gods from the various belief systems that appear in Seasons of Mists. Gaiman replies, "I’d say the most important factor was my growing up as a Jewish kid in a Church of England school. That had a big impact on me, because it made me feel like an outsider. In a sense, it made me view everything as myth."

Joining in a bit late here, I have to say that Season of Mists is my favorite Sandman so far.... I know, I have only finished four volumes so far, but it really is my favorite. I liked how the stories had a nice linear connection through the episodes, although I have to say the artwork still leaves me with mixed feelings. The mythological characters were a pleasant surprise.

... now I need to make time for volume 5.....
