Just reading this review of The Circle by Margaret Atwood in the New York Review of Books and it occurred to me it might be nice to have a thread of reviews.

There obviously may be material that some consider spoilery (spoilerish? spoileresque?) so read at your own risk if that sort of thing brings you down.

And Ellen Ullman's review in the New York Times (I know--so far just peer reviews).

There are summaries of (and links to) Wired, Salon, and Gawker reviews on The Circle's LT page.

And la Kakutani being a little less pissy than usual in The New York Times.

Thanks, Becky. I was completely out of "first impressions." Margaret Atwood's review is excellent, and judging from what she has to say, she should have written the book. snark

FWIW, you can also add the reviews under "Published Reviews" for The Circle itself.

I'm half-way through the book and feeling a little uncertain of what Eggers is trying to do or if (in fact) he's going anywhere at all. Atwood's opinion has given me the confidence I need to press on. Thanks Becky. I needed that.

Yeah, Portland, ME. It would be nice if Portland, Maine had another independent—even if it was run by that guy ;)

The Circle isn't on it, but here's a very recent list of Dystopian novels put together on Flavorwire: http://flavorwire.com/425625/15-works-of-dystopian-fiction-everyone-should-read/...

Thanks for the list of reviews. Loved Margaret Atwood's of course, but she didn't say whether or not she like the book.

Here’s a New Yorker blog discussion of the book:
http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/elements/2013/10/dave-eggers-the-circle-no...

And in a New Yorker print article from October 28, 2013, The Circle is brought up in comparison to three non-fiction books on technology and quiet that are being reviewed: “Only Disconnect” by Evgeny Morozov, 33-37.
