With all due respect that piece is two years old. I know we're still hated/distrusted whatever, but I'll bet the numbers have improved a bit.

Even Heathens don't trust them darn Atheists. Now, I know why they put that eye on the dollar bill. It's to keep people honest.

I agree with jbbarret.

Here in the UK, I would guess that people would be less likely to trust a religious person to hold public office.

That might vary from one community to another. I seem to recall reading that some English Muslims in a particular area were well-disposed to a Christian candidate to public office - a potential MP I think - because they felt more comfortable with a person of faith.
