I don't know if anyone else here is a fan of Gene Wolfe's work, but I find myself uncontrollably excited at having discovered his next book is entitled Pirate Freedom!
I just thought some of you might be excited to know that the author many consider to be "the greatest writer in the English language alive today" has written a swashbuckling pirate adventure! I believe it's set for a November release.

I just finished Pirate Freedom last night and posted a review here. Great stuff, although (as always with Wolfe) I'll have to read it again before I understand what he's up to.

I read Pirate Freedom. It was very interesting. He had a great feel for the pirate life in the Caribbean, with buccaneers and all. The framing story with time-travel was very curious... making for extra dimension. Odd having the contrast between being a pirate in the 17th C. and a priest in the 21st. Time travel was not explained at all, but made for an interesting twist, too.
