Have you been to Joseph Fox Bookshop? If not you should head over. It is a small independent shop on Samson Street. http://www.foxbookshop.com/

In the 'burbs, it is a bit of a drive for me, but I found Town Book Center & Cafe in Collegeville. http://www.townebc.com/ It reminds me of a small Borders.

I tried checking out a bunch of independents in Kimberton, PA but they were a bit strange.

If anyone has fav raves, please let me know. I am trying to find independent shops to frequent.

The Manayunk section of Philly has The Spiral Bookcase, which has a nice selection of books and a friendly and knowledge proprietor (Ann). Definitely worth a visit.

>2 NLytle: Nice! I didn't know about The Spiral Bookcase.

I went to The Book Barn in West Chester on Saturday. It is always a nice browse.

This is completely going to make people frown, but....what are thoughts on buying at used bookstores that are expensive versus getting the book new online? For instance, I grabbed a book at The Book Barn that was in just okay shape. I paid a dollar less for it than I could have it delivered free to my home.

I am torn. Part of me says, get the book and give it a second life and stop being too thrifty. The other part says, why buy a musty old book when for a dollar more I can get one new...
