I just realized that I'd forgotten to post the monthly thread! My excuse is that I was away for a lengthy business trip and did not get much time on the computer (other than for work). It's better late than never, I suppose, so here's our January thread.

I'm not sure I'll get to one of my ABC books this month, but I do hope to read, register and release a few of my own. I've started with The Black Book by Ian Rankin.

My goal for January is to finish my current book, A Constellation of Vital Phenomena, and not to read any other book (except for kids' books) before I finish this book. It is so dense!

>3 SqueakyChu: Great review! I've not read this one yet but I loved Anthony Marra's The Tsar of Love and Techno.

I finished an ABC book, A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki, for a roundabout but have not touched my older ABC books yet! However, I did finish and register one of my own books, The Black Book by Ian Rankin. I keep getting distracted by new library books ....

>3 SqueakyChu: Hooray! I completed my goal for January!
That was a phenomenal book -- No pun intended! I highly recommend it. It was more than I ever wanted to know about Chechnya, but I feel as if I have a greater understanding of that part of the world from just reading Marra's novel.
I'll have to look for the book you mentioned. Anthony Marra is truly a magnificent writer. I'd love to read more of his work.
