Just wondering what type of origami paper everyone favours and why.

Since I want to make 1,000 cranes - all different - I use whatever I can. I've printed out online comic strips and I've been using light-weight card stock in various colors and patterns. I'm using rice paper and other traditional papers.

I get a nice kind from a discount store--nearly always true squares, small, medium weight, comes in a rainbow of colors, and CHEAP, so I don't have to feel bad about frequent mess-ups . . .

I just purchased some Japanese Washi and some foil backed origami paper. I can recommend the Washi, the folds just seem to fall into place. The foil is harder to work with, but does look rather good, and as I'm planning to have a go at the 'Bladerunner' unicorn, foil was the only real option!
