Welcome and happy ROOTing! I'm also rather spontaneous in my reading, I find that putting a book on the list diminishes my interest considerably.

Hi Michelle, and welcome from another spontaneous ROOTer! :)

Welcome from me too! I do a mixture of spontaneous (well, from my Jar of Fate, so I pull out a title by random), and planned (participation in reading challenges) reading, with the occasional ooh I have to read this new shiny book RIGHT NOW. Whatever works for you!
I hope you find the group helpful in tackling those unread tomes!

Welcome aboard and have fun!
I make a shortlist of potential ROOT books at the beginning of the year and read books from it as the mood strikes. I also try to change things up by alternating short books and longer ones. So it's a little spontaneous and a little planned (or maybe "guided" is the better word). Enjoy picking out those ROOTs!

Hi there and welcome! I am also a spontaneous reader, although I tend to get hooked into a series once I read a few, and head off in another direction. I am thinking of the Jar of Fate idea though. I also participate in the Challenges. I have to confess that lately I have fallen prey to the new books at a bookstore, rather than reading my ROOTS as much as I want to do.

Hi Michelle, Welcome to the Rooters and happy ROOTing! Here another spontaneous reader. I have loads of ToBeRead books on my shelves. There is always some book that fits my mood.

Hi Michelle, and welcome to the group. I don't know if I qualify as a spontaneous reader - although I am a spontaneous book buyer for sure. I have a list of books I made long ago, and I am trying to read all of those some time or other. Many of my ROOTs come from this list. In fact, many of them are on the list because they are ROOTs.
My method of picking a book, particularly a ROOT (which for me is a physical book that I have owned since before the beginning of this year) is mostly to get the one that I am most tired of looking at on my shelves or in one of my piles.
Happy Reading!
