My March goal is a simple one: do better than I did in February!

February is always a drudge month for me - only got to my targets because of half term. At least now the sun is shining!
I'd like to read 8 tbr books (10 if I can) and 8 1001 books. I might even see if I can read a tbr which is also a 1001 book! Only snag is a lot of those are huge.
I will also try and avoid libraries, bookshops, charity shops and wandering booksellers to see if I can actually make a dent in my bookshelves. This is the least realistic of my goals.

>3 soffitta1: Good luck! I too have been trying to avoid bookstores and have been moderately successful. I recently visited my daughter in Toronto, and through great willpower, did not walk into my favourite bookstore there.

I'm looking at a pile of 7 library books most of which have to be read in March so I'm going to commit to reading them plus one other TBR book.

I'm not doing too badly so far. I finished one ABC book and read/registered a couple more from my shelves.

I’m a bit late for this month. I’m reading Moby Dick this month! It’s hard to pick a goal as I don’t expect to finish it any time soon. I’m looking up just about every other word, but I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Okay...my goal will be to finish at least 50 more pages by month’s end. I’m on about page 100 now. :D

>4 mathgirl40: Which is your favorite bookstore in Toronto? Do you ever get to St. Catherine’s? My good friend owns The Write Bookshop (a used bookstore) there. I was able to visit it during my last trip to Canada.

By the way, do you ever get to the BookCrossing meetups in Toronto? I would love to go back there some day!

>7 SqueakyChu: Good luck with your revised goal!

>8 SqueakyChu: My favourite bookstore in Toronto is BMV Books, especially the large Bloor Street location. I have to admit, though, that I've not been to most (or even many) bookstores in Toronto, so I'll be happy to get recommendations.

I've occasionally driven through St. Catherine's to get to another destination but I've never stopped there. I'll have to keep your friend's bookstore in mind for the next time I'm in that area.

I had the pleasure of meeting the Toronto Bookcrossers once. Jessibud and other members kindly send me reminders of their meetings. I do go into Toronto frequently, for business trips and to visit my daughter, but the dates never seen to coincide with any of the meetings. I have stopped into their OBCZ, the Harbord House pub, to visit the bookshelf. The food and drink menus there are terrific. My daughter will be moving to the Annex area soon, so I hope I will have more opportunities to go there.

Well I didn't get the 8 library books read, only 4 but I haven't had to return any books unread or keep them overdue so I'm counting that as a win. And I managed to read two TBR books instead of the one I challenged myself to read. So it wasn't so bad as it could have been.

I did make my targets, but only just. A very busy month. A few books did make it in my front door as well.....

>7 SqueakyChu: I did it! I did it! I surprised myself. I'm up to page 156 in Moby Dick now. Ever onward!

>9 mathgirl40: I hope both you AND I get the chance to meet up with the Toronto BookCrossers again!

>10 gypsysmom: Yes, definitely count that as a win. :)

>11 soffitta1: Congratulations on making your targets!

>12 SqueakyChu: Good work on Moby Dick. Hope you make more progress next month. Do let us know the next time you'll be in Toronto, and I'll definitely try to get there to meet up with you and the others.
