Sorry for the late posting of the July thread. It's been a very busy Canada Day weekend for me!

Tell us about your plans for July!

My goal is to reduce this month's To Be Read pile! To date, I have NINE books I'm either currently reading or have in my To Be Read *Immediately* pile! My actual To read pile is over 400 books! :O

Well, I better stop typing and start reading. Haha!

>2 SqueakyChu: Heh ... my physical TBR pile is not quite that big, but if I add my electronic books too, then it gets pretty scary. :)

>2 SqueakyChu: I messed up! I started reading a tenth book.

Here's my list for July. Ha!

>4 SqueakyChu: Ha, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who reads so many books at the same time! I usually have a couple of different audiobooks going, a few on my e-reader and a few more physical books. My friends who are one-at-a-time readers think I'm nuts.

We are so close to the Summer holidays here, so I am going to aim for 6 again from this list including one from 2017.
I'd also like to raise the number of 1001 books to 10 as a high target. I am nearing in on 850, hope to get there by the end of August.

I finished Sacred Country this morning, not a recent book, but seems very timely. I also plan to read The First Circle - 1001 book read and also on TBR pile. Boom - two in one!

I have some really big books picked out to read this month and 2 are from the library so I really have to put those at the top. So I'm only going to commit to read 3 books from the TBR pile for July.

My problem is I keep buying books that fit a release challenge theme, then don't release them because I decide I want to read them first! Even when I get really cheap books I seem to have a real problem letting them go.

I did a good job in June releasing some French-themed books in France, but I was traveling so much of the month that I did a terrible job releasing LGBTQ books for the PRIDE challenge, so now I just have a lot of books to read. And lots of family visiting in July and August, so I'm afraid my summer reading time is going to get cut very short!

I guess my goals for this month would be to only read things that I can then release in one of the many bookboxes I'm signed up for or to fulfill a challenge in the next few months.

I also keep taking books off my TBR that I plan to read, but not reading them. Then I go out and buy a ton of books at library book sales. Oops.

I read 8 from my TBR pile, taking advantages of long journeys. I also read 15 1001 books, higher than expected because of this month's 1001 challenge and also doing well at the charity shops.

I did a fair amount of releasing, I have also registered a stack - next year's list to read! I did buy quite a few books this month though.

I failed miserably! I read 8 books this past month, but now I have TWELVE books in my to be read and to be finished piles! :O

>9 originalslicey: That happens to me too! I also acquire books for various challenges but I can't bring myself to release a book I've not read yet. So I too end up releasing too few and having too many on the TBR pile.

>10 soffitta1: 15 1001 book is impressive indeed!

>11 SqueakyChu: Ha, how did that ever happen? :) :)

I spent most of July reading from the Voter Packet for the Hugo Awards and I was also doing a lot of travelling for business and family visits. As a result, I did terribly at all challenges, including this one. Well, there's next month, and I'm off to create the thread now!

Even though I only said I would read 3 books from the TBR pile for this month I still failed. Only got 2 read but I did read a huge 1001 list book in July; that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

>15 gypsysmom: Reading a huge 1001 list book is a good achievement for the month!

Definitely - I keep avoiding the massive tomes. I have Finnegans Wake on this year's list. Eek!

ETA - I love finding a 1001 book that is less than 200 pages! Such a rare find.
