Things slightly on hold as read The Testaments - went to the screening of Atwood's interview last night. Seriously contemplated taking today off to read it!

>3 soffitta1: Wow! That shows dedication. I'm trying to hold off buying it but I may break down soon.

It was worth the wait! A worthy revisit to Gilead. I decided to follow it up with The Heart Goes Last and have Vox up on my "cracked when I saw it in a charity shop and had to buy it" TBR pile.

>4 gypsysmom: >5 soffitta1: I'm listening to The Testaments on audiobook right now and it's really gripping. It impresses me that Atwood, almost at age 80, does not seem to be slowing down one bit. In my opinion, Hag-seed, published just a few years ago, is among her very best.

So how did everyone do in September? My big accomplishment was to finish half of my oldest ABC book, Mary Queen of Scotland and the Isles by Margaret George, which is almost 900 (very dense) pages long. I plan to finish it in October.

>6 mathgirl40: My husband bought a copy of The Testaments for me. I had mentioned Atwood had a new book out but didn't really expect he would buy it for me even though my birthday was coming up. When I opened my gift he told me that he had already bought it when I mentioned it to him. What a great guy!
>7 mathgirl40: I failed miserably. I only read 3 books from my own stack in September and 2 of them were recently added ones.

I failed! I didn't list my September goal, and it's now October!

>8 gypsysmom: A husband that knows his wife's taste in books -- can't get any better than that!
>9 SqueakyChu: That's OK. You can make up for it in October. :)
