I'm spending time with The queens of Innis Lear in this fantasy take on the Shakespeare play.

Finished Fire & Blood by George R. R. Martin. Just as dull as any history that spouts facts. No wonder it took me three months to finish it.

Added The Last Smile in Sunder City by Luke Arnold to my rotation.

It's back to alternate Victorian London with Changeless.

I'm in wintry Capharna near the beginning of Transformation by Carol Berg, loving it so far.

Finished up my time in Tortall with Mastiff. Loved it -- honestly I think it overtakes Alanna's quartet as my favorite Pierce series. Police procedurals are fun, and the character writing is top notch, if heartbreaking.

Now I'm learning about Druhástrana in the very witty and creepy Gingerbread.

Just finished The Bonehunters, Book 6 of Malazan. A solid if uneven effort. Some plotlines just served to confuse me, and kind of trailed off. However, the good parts were really good! Two climaxes - an extremely intense battle in the first third of the book and a incredibly fast-paced ending. My favorites continue to be the Malazan Army/Marines (current AND former). I also liked how Tavore evolved as a character.

Just downloaded Book 7 Reaper's Gale.

Finished The Last Smile in Sunder City by Luke Arnold. It took a bit of getting used to the style but once I did, I really enjoyed the book. Looking forward to the next in the series coming out later this year.

Added The True Bastards by Jonathan French to my rotation.

I've just got back from a close relation of renaissance Italy with Guy Gavriel Kay in A brightness Long Ago. I did enjoy it, as I enjoy all Kay's work, but with this one I found plot and characters all feeling a bit samey. He seems to have several stock characters (wandering artist, wandering (female) Jewish healer, war leader) who crop up in his stories again and again.

Today I'll be heading back to Westeros in Fire and Blood.

In this fearful time, I've returned to the primary comfort reading of my life, and have started my zillionth re-reading of LOTR. In case I'm down to my last few books, I want those to be among them.

>14 Zambaco: I think I actually LOL'd while reading this book at the recurring character types. When I first finished it, I was fairly "meh" on it, but I've grown fonder over time. I think part of my fondness is that the core of the story - the nature of the central rivalry and the focus on various people in its orbit - reminded me most of Song for Arbonne, and that's my favorite Kay book.

>17 Narilka: ooh this is on my TBR and I am really looking forward to it. I hope you enjoy it!

I'm currently visiting Havenfall which has some great ideas and setting but is a bit too YA in the ways I don't enjoy.

Added a re-read of Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay to my rotation.

Yeah, I loved his first works then they did feel like cut outs. So I haven't read him in a while,

Just finished The Blood of Elves which leaves you hanging with a wounded Witcher, a confused child of surprise and a sorceress with dubious intentions. Our book stores are closed due to our current plague so I can’t rush out for the next in the series.
