Women trapped in WWI during bombing - possibly spies

This book was set in WWII, mostly Europe or London I believe. It was surrounding the lives of two young women. I remember most when they were shelled in a building that collapsed around them and as one of the young women was dying she took off her wedding ring and gave it to the other young woman to put on so that she could take on her persona and live. The women may have been spies.
