I'll be back. Long list of possibilities, but I plan to finish What Just Happened by Charles Finch first. So far, it's the most compelling yarn about the pandemic that i've encountered.

I had to abruptly quit reading last weekend but I'll try again this weekend. I have about 15 pages to go in The Innocents Abroad so hope to start the weekend by finishing a book.

Well, it kinda seems suitable to start our 79th Social Distancing Readathon by finishing a book about, well, social distancing. And the pandemic, and George Floyd, and the election, and a bit about climate change. And about the Beatles, art, pot smoking and friendship.

Non-book activities: Talked to the tree guy that my landlady consulted about Octavius the Giant Oak Tree out in the yard. He says Octavius is VERY healthy and at least 200 years old. I love that tree. Oh, and I wrapped up edits on a chunk of a boring white paper and will do more tomorrow.

Coffee this morning and will soon be toasted challah
Thoughts: 5 weeks of severe lockdown is wearing us all down

We watched a couple of Israeli films on dvd, Kazablan, a musical from the 1970s, very fun, I've seen this multiple times over the years.
'The Ballad of the Weeping Spring' - love this one too, also watched it a few times.

I saw two films ( on my computer) today from the film festival and finished one really funny book-Batchelor Brothers Bed & Breakfast Pillow Book - highly recommended if you need to laugh out loud.
Dinner- left over baked chicken and potatoes, and sliced red peppers.

I read Batchelor Brothers Bed & Breakfast years ago. I had forgotten all about it. It was funny.
And you must be talking about the Toronto International Film Festival.
It's so great. I got to go a couple times. Love it!

Books:
Finished The Lost Wife, a historical novel about the Holocaust. Horrifying and heartbreaking.

Dinner:
fish, vegetables, watermelon, 2 small cookies.

Other activity:
family members came to visit
Watched a movie - "The Courier" with Benedict Cumberbatch; spy story based on true events.
