Tafadhali's Musical 2022 Category Challenge

1Tafadhali
des. 14, 2021, 9:27 am

This year, I'm continuing my efforts to read books I already own — especially gifts! — while also trying to check out new titles at my new job, where I get to do a lot more book talks. As I have for the last few years, I'll be counting books in multiple categories if they apply.

The first few categories all have a sort of Bingo structure, but other than that I'm not setting number goals — just trying to have fun! And what could be more fun that a movie musicals theme?

I. BingoDOG
II. Quiltbag
III. 7 Continents
IV. New Arrivals at Work
V. Gift Books
VI. Run the Series
VII. Latinx
VIII. Theatre & Film
IX. Comics & Graphic Novels

It's nearing the end of the year, and I have a few goals. Here is some brainstorming for what I'd like to try and read in December:

- At least 1 gift book: Beowulf* (or: Putting It Together)
- At least 1 Latinx book: The Mirror Season
- At least 1 theatre/film book: Women Make Horror*, Projections of Passing*, Putting It Together
- At least 1 graphic novel: My Brother's Husband
- Book from Oceania: The Luminaries
- Book from South America: Twilight Zone
- Book from Antarctica: Endurance
- Title contains a month: The October Country*
- A book club read: Under the Dome*
- A new SFF arrival at work: The Mirror Season

Good luck with completing your goals! Looks like you have some good choices in your reading options for December. I've not read Frank Worsley's Endurance but I thought Alfred Lansing's Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage was excellent.
