Sideways Images

I have been uploading covers and other images for years without trouble. Suddenly, in my iPhone if I upload a new image taken with my iPhone, the image is sideways. What gives? Please help. Sometimes this even happens if I scan the barcode with my app on iPhone. Please help.

>1 IslandsLibrary: It's a known problem and I've found the only way to handle it is to open the image in Preview, rotate 360 degrees, save, and finally upload the saved image.

It appears to be something to do with the orientation of the device when you take the photo - it seems to set the orientation of the image according to the position of the home button when you take the photo.

Any small edit will set the position. I tend to crop the edges a bit.

We're planning on adding image editing (or at least rotation) to LibraryThing in the near-ish future. I'd love to see it happen this year; we'll see.
