Company in British Columbia, Canada, set to launch a vertical farming lettuce industry:

The article doesn't explore whether this method could grow other vegetables as well, but the implication is there.

No one has yet examined the inevitable plastic contamination resulting from vertical or indoor or hydroponic growing of foods, based on plastic infrastructures. That would include microplastics and the just-beginning study of nanoplastic contamination.
