This thread is a place to discuss, comment on and reminisce about the Pilot to Arrested Development.

I'll start :)

General Observations:

I can't believe how the actors are so good at their characters already. I think Buster is a little different than later in the series, but the rest are spot on. When I go back and watch the early episodes of some shows, it feels awkward because the characters aren't the ones I know.

Michael Cera is so young! (This one is for you Mr. A)

Love the shot of the house in a field of sand!

I am so glad they filmed this so my widescreen works.

Great intro of Maeby: trying to con GM with the fox foot.

I love when George announce Lucille is taking over and it is like she won Miss America.

Michael's new job is at Sitwell!

Some good quotes:

"So I dipped into the Kitty a couple of times." Lucille says this!

"Obviously this blue part here is the land."

"I got a job. It's something that you apply for and then they pay you... never mind, I don't want to ruin the surprise."

"Are you trying to cry?"

Running gags that I noticed:

Freedom sign guy. Does anyone know what song that is whenever they show him and who sings it.

Illusions, (Michael, Dad)

Buster's backrubs. I am kind of glad these dropped off after awhile. They made Buster seem extra creepy, but I guess that was the point. I also guess he had to stop giving them once he had the claw. Poor Oscar!

That darn segway! so perfect for GOB!

"I'm having the time of my life!"

You forgot my favorite quote of the pilot!

"Illusions dad, you don't have time for my illusions!"

I also love that Buster thinks the blue part of the map is the land. I think he could maybe use a few more cartography classes!

I love Tobias accidentally ending up in a Gay Pride rally and NOT EVEN REALIZING IT!

And of course the introduction of the Banana Stand, which makes me crave frozen bananas more than anything! (I want a GOB, all that chocolate and nuts...)

I agree that it is mipressive that the actors knew their characters so well already, of course when you have people like David Cross and Jeffrey Tambor, I couldn't expect anything less!

I've listened to the commentary a couple times and think its impressive that Michael Cera was already add libbing (the thing at the end when he suggests that he and Maeby should kiss to teach them a lesson again).

I just watched the extended pilot. This is the first I've ever seen of the show, at all.

I just love the casting. It's so perfect.

It was only a matter of time, since I adore both David Cross and Michael Cera. And it was a nice surprise to see Bob Odenkirk as the therapist.

My favourite part of the pilot is this:

Michael: What comes before anything? What have we always said is the most important thing?
George Michael: Breakfast.
Michael: Family.
George Michael: Family, right. I thought you meant of the things you eat.

The first time I watched the pilot, when Michael asked that question and before George Michael answered, I said out loud to myself "Breakfast", because as far as I'm concerned that is the most important thing. Like George Michael, I was a little disappointed to find out I got the answer wrong.

Elee, I am with you on the breakfast front.

"Juice? This party is going to be off the HOOK."
