Hi, folks! My son just moved into his first apartment down there in Atlanta -- he's a grad student at GaTech. My question has to do with rental laws in that area. His refrigerator died last night and I'm wondering if his landlord has any legal obligation to supply a replacement within a given timeframe. The apartment was rented with the understanding that the fridge was operational and the building is run by a management office that is only open five days a week. The building is also experiencing difficulties with hot water.
Our experience with renting was only up in New York City where rental buildings have some fairly stringent expectations. Can anyone help me with information as to how Atlanta handles these things? Is he pretty much on his own? Or are there any protections? I'm *not* looking for legal advice; just general information. LT is so helpful in so many ways, I thought I'd give it a shot!
