Please help inspire us & share your ideas for any interesting book club themes. We've seen the classics and true crime - what else is there?

if you mean a book club organized entirely around one theme: we did an "Orange Prize" book club and read books off the lists of winners and nominations (for any year).

My book club is reading the BBC's Big Read Top 100. We have read a lot of books that we would never normally read and there is a loy of variety...Harry Potter through to War and Peace!

Oh, it's so funny you should mention the BBC's Big Read Top 100 list, RedHead17. Some of the books are right-on, but other choices are kinda wacky, don't you think?

I :adore: the Harry Potter series, but J.K. Rowling got 5 of the 100 entries...as did Terry Pratchett...and that seems a tad unbalanced. James Joyce got just one recommendation, by comparison, and many more incredible authors are not listed at all.

Again, love those authors - but should they take 10 entries in the top 100?

Btw, here's the link to the BBC's Big Read Top 100 List!

I agree that 5/100 Harry Potter was unnecessary, especially because Lord of the Rings is listed as one book. The whole Harry Potter series could have been one item.

But wow, there's some fascinating stuff connected to that page!
