Peret seems to have been scandalously undervalued in the english speaking world.

Are there any biographies, or books on surrealism which include a substantial biography of him in English?

Is he better represented/better appreciated in books written in French or German?

Peret was one of the great surrealists! There are a couple of studies on him, but they're rather dull. I would recommend DEATH TO THE PIGS, a great collection of his writing that also includes some biographical info, letters, and photos. Also, his prose is highly recommended, including THE ELEGANT EWE in THE AUTOMATIC MUSE and MAD BALLS.

Thanks Tatala - I agree with your first sentence. Nice to have an inside view on what to read of his.
