Though George Lucas claims he will never make a movie of part 7, 8 & 9 of the original series, this is always an option. That animated stuff just isn't satisfying enough for me. I do think the three books could fit into one movie, though.

I am always waiting till they start with a tv-series. A plot like The Legacy Of The Force seems made for television. Maybe it's just too expensive.

Any thoughts anyone?

I had heard a while back there was going to be a series, but then nothing ever came of it. Really disappointing, a friend wanted to audition for the part of Jaina. I think people get too caught up in the idea of putting things on the big screen. Like the Harry Potter series: I think they would have been better off as a mini-series/made-for-tv movie than as movies (although I'm glad the final book is being split into two movies).

I would love it if they were to just pick up the books from where the last movie left off, or started doing the mini-series a little at a time (X-Wing, New Jedi Order, etc).

Maybe part of the problem is they wanted too long, and now they don't know how they're going to find middle age actors to play the original Han, Luke and Leia.

ETA: Please no spoilers for SW books in here! Just wanted to say that ahead of time, in case someone wants to chime in with, "Yeah, I can just see the battle where so-and-so gets killed!" because I am woefully behind in my SW reading. Thanks! :)

Personally, I think a movie should be done on the Old Republic, about the Jedi and Sith wars, or even farther back to the Jedi Civil War with Darth Revan and Darth Malak.

I'd rather Lucas stop doing SW stuff altogether, to be quite honest.

Well we ran out of time now because everyone is old and wont do good until later into the star wars universe.

I agree with TahmidAbdullah - it'd be nice to see some Old Republic era stuff. The stories are pretty exciting there.

The only thing is, Lucas has already mentioned a mild disdain for Expanded Universe stuff - whilst he may have given it the green light, he mentioned that he was only really concerned with the lives of Luke/Anakin. Since the EU stuff has essentially covered most of the bases - formation of the Rule of Two, the post-Empire legacy, the earliest foundations of the Sith as we know them... What would he write about? The only thing, surely, for him to do is the very formation of the Jedi, if he really doesn't want to dabble in EU stuff? :S

I'm with Salt, I would be perfectly happy if Lucas never touched another SW movie again. The prequel trilogy was a mess of awkwardness (in both acting and writing) and over-reliance on special effects.

I never understood why George Lucas felt that the darkest period in Star Wars (movies) history - The Clone Wars - would be best presented in bright-coloured cartoon format. Surely if any era deserved a real-life TV series it is The Clone Wars!

The truth is that George Lucas is a master storyteller... but he's a bad director and a poor script-writer. I think, deep down, he knows this and that's why he won't try to cover EU and Old Repulblic stories already written by more talented writers.

>8 Echobrain: I feel the same way. The Clone Wars could have been so much more, and had much more depth.

The graphic novels and prose novels cover this period much more effectively for me.
